As we head into this long weekend, I hope you find time to disconnect from your devices and reconnect with what matters most. Our digital world is powerful, but the best connections are often unplugged. Whether you are traveling, spending time with family, or simply resting, I wish you a safe, refreshing, and happy long weekend. Let us recharge our own batteries so we can continue building a connected future for our nation. Today I officiated at the Abedai National Robotics, AI, IOT Challenge 2026 (ANRAIC) at Tynwald Primary School. I reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to integrating Artificial Intelligence, IOT, Coding and Robotics as compulsory pillars of our primary and secondary education curriculum. The logic is clear: To achieve President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 of an innovation driven, upper middle income economy, we must invest in human capital at the foundational level. We cannot afford to nurture a generation that simply consumes foreign technology we must build a pipeline of local innovators, researchers and problem solvers. This mandate is supported by three critical enablers: Infrastructure: We are scaling the Presidential Internet Scheme and the One Learner, One Device Initiative to ensure equitable access together with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education @TorerayiMoyo Strategy: The National AI Strategy 2026 2030 provides the framework for developing local talent, encouraging responsible AI, and forging strategic partnerships. Safety: We are concurrently strengthening the National Child Online Protection Policy to secure our digital learning environments against exploitation and cyberbullying. Collaboration between the Ministry of ICT and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is crucial as we roll out teacher training and establish more robotics clubs. Our goal is to equip learners with the tools to solve national challenges in sectors like agriculture, healthcare and mining. I look forward to more in the private sector and development partners joining us on this transformative journey. External links Category: living people
