Zola (film)

Zola is a 2020 black comedy crime film about a Detroit waitress who takes a wild road trip to Florida with a new acquaintance, expecting to dance at strip clubs, only to be dragged into a dangerous 48-hour nightmare involving a pimp and sex trafficking. Directed by Janicza Bravo. Written by Janicza Bravo and Jeremy Q. Harris. Dialogue [first lines] Zola: You wanna hear a story about how me and this bitch here fell out? It's kinda long, but it's full of suspense. Zola: OK, what's the deal? With your boy, your roommate? Stefani: We cool. Well he takes care of me. Zola: [the frame freezes] Mm. "Take care of me" in stripper language means he is her pimp. I am not here for that.
