Act natural. Directed by Daniel Chong. Written by Jesse Andrews. Mabel Tanaka [Mrs. Tanka: Mabel, are you sure you want to do this? You'll have more opportunities, sweetie, if you come with us.] Mom, I'm not moving across the country. Grandma needs me. So, let me get this straight. You created a fake animal which makes the other animals think you're an animal? Guys, this is like Avatar! Fellow animals, the humans has stolen their last inch of land from us! We gotta fight back! King George You wanna live here, you better learn pond rules. Oh, I am clear in the rest of the day. Let's hear it from Mabel, everyone. Rule number one: don't be a stranger. Rule number two: when you gotta eat, eat. I offer you my fragrant soothing oils to calm you. It's good. Dialogue [Young Mabel is in the principal's office after getting into trouble for trying to free the school pets] Principal: [in unison] Mabel, what were you thinking?! How do you know the animals go to school?! This behavior needs to stop. Teacher: [in unison] We have rules for a reason! They apply to everyone including you! You're part of a big class, and that means you need to cooperate! [As they continue heavily scolding her, she sadly looks out the window, watching the turtle being put back into its terrarium; Later, in a car…] Mrs. Tanka: [strictly while driving] I know you love animals, Mabel, but you bit someone. You cannot bite people! That is not something I should have to say! [pulls up at Grandma Tanka's house, dropping her off] Mom, I got to get back to work. Can you take her for a few hours? Thanks. Grandma Tanka: When I was 12, I punched Suzie Perkins in the face. I used to get really mad but not anymore. Wanna know my secret? You just have to be very still, and watch and listen. Mayor Jerry: Mabel. Mabel: [savagely] Mayor Jerry. Mayor Jerry: How's the arm? Mabel: [holds up her arm with a cast] Come find out. [They both get into an outrageous argument] Mayor Jerry: Mabel, I can't keep having this argument with you all the time. Mabel: We don't have this argument all the time. [Flashback to their previous arguments; back to the present] Mabel: Seriously, Jerry, this is illegal. How are you just gonna blow up a pond full of animals? Mayor Jerry: Because there are no animals! Dr. Sam: Look, I understand your passion, I do. But you're failing my class, you're breaking your bones. This obsession with the glade is ruining your life. [opens the door to her office] Mabel: [entering along with her] But Dr. Sam, we're running out of time. Dr. Sam: My dear, you won't be in college forever. You need a plan for the future. Mabel: Well, what about the glade's future? The mayor's acting like the animals are gone, but I'm not buying it. Dr. Sam: Mabel, the mayor is right. Mabel: [confused] What? Dr. Sam: Those animals are gone. They left after the resident beaver moved out. Mabel: B-But what does that mean? Dr. Sam: [sighs deeply] I know how hard it's been for you since your grandma passed. But, Mabel, you can't save that place. Only a beaver can. Ellen: Why? Mabel: W-Why what? Why would I save his life? Ellen: Yeah. Loaf: Yeah, why would you do that? Mabel: Wait, what? But... she was gonna eat you! Loaf: Well, yeah. She caught me. It's pond rules. Ellen: Mm-hmm. Pond rules. Mabel: Wait, I'm confused. How could you be cool with that? Loaf: I mean, she's gotta eat someone. [to Ellen] So... um... you still wanna...? Ellen: Nuh-uh. It's weird now. Conner: How did he get a little crown? Nisha: That's your question? Mabel: [after the metal tree with sound machines and the glade to rebuild] Now what? King George: Now... we party. Mabel: Party? But we have work to do! King George: We're beavers, Mabel. Work is the party! Titus: Greetings! Mabel and Jerry: AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! Titus: [chuckles evilly] Hey, Mabel... Remember ME? Mabel: Is.... is that.... Titus: [laughs evilly in flashback when he was a catapiller, Flashback ends as Titus laughs evilly] It is! [laughs again] Oh, my voice has dropped. Everyone... I have pupated into a man! Mabel: Titus! It's over!! Titus: ARGH!!! It's just begun! I will squish every last one of you! The mammals! The birds! Bird King: What? Titus: The reptiles! Reptile Queens: Huh? Titus: The stupid amphibians! Amphibian King: What?! Titus: No one will ever eat us again! The world will be our hive! Taglines Human. Nature. Act natural.
