Pallywood (a portmanteau of "Palestine" and "Hollywood") is a derogatory term used to accuse Palestinians of staging scenes of suffering and civilian death in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. It has been described as a conspiracy theory and a prominent element of Israeli disinformation in the conflict.
The term gained currency following the 2000 killing of Muhammad al-Durrah during the Second Intifada, after some commentators alleged that the incident had been some kind of media hoax. Israeli pundits have used the term to dismiss videos showing Israeli violence or deny Palestinian suffering, particularly during the Gaza war.

Richard Landes calls up a film clip onto the screen of his laptop to give an example of "Pallywood" - a term he invented as a take-off on "Bollywood." The difference between the two, however, couldn't be greater. Whereas the latter is the name now used for the Indian movie industry, the former refers to what Landes asserts are pernicious productions staged by the Palestinians, in front of (and often with cooperation from) Western camera crews, for the purpose of promoting anti-Israel propaganda by disguising it as news. It's a pretty harsh claim, and one that has earned the associate professor at Boston University - and co-founder and director of the Center for Millennial Studies - the reputation in certain circles as a right-wing conspiracy theorist.

JERUSALEM — Israelis call her 'Shirley Temper' and say she epitomizes 'Pallywood,' or Palestinian propaganda attempts to discredit Israel. Palestinians call her a hero, for fearlessly standing up to those who enforce the Israeli occupation of their land and those who terrorize her village. Her real name is Ahed Tamimi. And a video of her confronting or provoking Israeli soldiers — depending on how you look at it — has gone viral.

Indian accounts have been the driving force behind "Pallywood", a poisonous narrative that uses videos from old films and protests to falsely claim that Palestinians are faking their deaths. In one video, a row of white body bags can be seen to be moving, with living people clearly lying inside them. On Twitter/X and Instagram, Indian and Israeli accounts have reposted the videos thousands of times, claiming they show Palestinians staging civilian deaths in Gaza.
