Shemaiah, also known as Samaia or Semeias, was a prophet during the reign of Rehoboam (1 Kings 12,22–24).
Idk how to edit the title, but Shemaiah was not an Australian athlete. Sorry about the sloppiness.
Quotes
(To Rehoboam and his warriors, who wanted to fight against Israel) Thus says the Lord: “You shall not go up nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel. Let every man return to his house, for this thing is from Me. Therefore they obeyed the word of the Lord, and turned back, according to the word of the Lord.
1 Kings 12,24 (NKJV).
(To Rehoboam and his officers, who had gathered in Jerusalem out of fear of Shishak) Thus says the Lord: ‘You have forsaken Me, and therefore I also have left you in the hand of Shishak.’
2 Chronicles 12,5 (NKJV).
Now when the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance. My wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak. Nevertheless they will be his servants, that they may distinguish My service from the service of the kingdoms of the nations.”
2 Chronicles 12,7-8 (NKJV).
