Enders Game is a 2013 military science fiction film about a gifted young boy named Ender Wiggin. Recruited by the International Military, he is sent to an orbital battle school to train for a looming invasion by the Formics, a hostile alien species that previously attacked Earth.
Written and Directed by Gavin Hood. Based on the 1985 novel by Orson Scott Card.
Dialogue
Major Gwen: Why'd you keep kicking him? You'd already won the fight. Did you enjoy it?
Ender: No. Then why? Speak up, son. Knocking him down was the first fight. I wanted to win all the next ones too. So they'd leave me alone.
Colonel Graff: But you have a habit of upsetting your commander.
Ender: I find it hard to respect someone just because they outrank me, sir.
Ender: I've had a lot of fights, Val. I've won because I've always understood the way my enemy thinks. And when I truly understand them...
Valentine: You also love them.
Mazer: There is no teacher but the enemy. Only he will tell you where you are weak, where he is strong.
Colonel Graff: We won! That's all that matters.
Ender: No. The way we win matters.
