In August 2015, she partnered with Children Cancer Awareness and Breast Cancer Awareness initiatives. She also collaborated with Miss Kenya 2014 for Smile Train Africa, helping provide free surgeries for 150 children with cleft lips in Rwanda. thumb|Miss Rwanda 2015 with young performer Kundwa was a 19-year-old student who represented the Northern Province and won the Miss Rwanda 2015 title at the Kigali Serena Hotel in February 2015. She beat 14 other finalists and was also the public's favourite. She succeeded Colombe Akiwacu, Miss Rwanda 2014, and was herself succeeded by Jolly Mutesi in 2016. As Miss Rwanda, she represented her country at Miss FESPAM 2015 and at Miss Africa Continent in 2016. After her reign, Kundwa moved to Canada, where she studied in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University. She became Vice President and Director of Public Relations of the International Rwanda Youth for Development (IRYD), and later Vice-President of the organisation United for Humanity. She has said that the African girl child needs more deliberate empowerment from the people around her, and that her parents, who always told her she could do whatever she put her mind to, shaped who she is. Quotes I miss my friends and family back home. I dearly miss the mere fact of being home, around Rwandans and everyone speaking Kinyarwanda. Sometimes I do forget and speak or respond to people here in Kinyarwanda. It's hilarious. KUNDWA DORIANE – CATCHING UP WITH MISS RWANDA 2015 The African Perspective, (January 1, 2018) The African girl child needs more deliberate empowerment from those that surround her. KUNDWA DORIANE – CATCHING UP WITH MISS RWANDA 2015 The African Perspective, (January 1, 2018) As Miss Rwanda 2015, I somehow carry the entire nation with me. I represent Rwanda and Rwandans. As I grew up, they constantly reminded me that I am capable of doing whatever I put my mind to. KUNDWA DORIANE – The African Perspective The African Perspective, (January 1, 2018) The African girl child needs empowerment through education, protection from vulnerabilities before she turns 18 (even beyond) and needs to be allowed to participate in society freely and equitably. KUNDWA DORIANE – CATCHING UP WITH MISS RWANDA 2015 The African Perspective, (January 1, 2018) I am inspired a lot by Biblical verses. KUNDWA DORIANE – CATCHING UP WITH MISS RWANDA 2015 The African Perspective, (January 1, 2018) I am passionate about God, business and knowledge. God because I cannot do without Him, business because I wish to create jobs and knowledge because it's the power that allows you to choose wisely.
