One Night Only (2026 film)

One Night Only is a 2026 American science-fiction-romantic-dramedy film about two New Yorkers, Allie and Owen who search for love on the one night of the year when pre-marital sex is legal. Directed by Will Gluck and written by Travis Braun. 12 hours can change everything(taglines) Ezra Stone I really thought this whole thing was gonna ruin sex for me. They kind of did. But at the same time, it gave it new meaning. Who do you choose to be with for this one night? Choice itself is romantic. Maybe the fascists were right about this one. Allie I’m ordering a pizza with extra cheese… hold the KY. Dialogue Linda: I never really liked her, if I’m being honest. Owen: You don’t have to say that. You’re always being honest. Linda: I just don’t think she appreciated you for all that you are. Owen: You have to say that. You’re my mom. Linda: That’s not true. Your brother’s kind of an asshole. If I’m being honest. (puts out hand to Owen who reciprocates) I’m sorry, honey. Oh, Christ, your hand is freezingǃ And it’s all redǃ Have you been checked for Raynaud’s syndrome? You know it runs on your father’s side of the family. That and having a girlfriend on Long Island. (gets up) Owen: I had it all planned out. Linda: Yeah, I know you did, baby. Life doesn’t work that way. (comes back) Really think you should get out there tonight. Owen: Nah, I think I’m just gonna stay here. Linda: No, you should go out. Just call your friends. Call Devin, Luis, whoever. Owen: But they’re all married now. Linda: Really? Owen: Yeah. Linda: Since when? Owen: Since they couldn’t take the mandate anymore. Linda: Goddamn mandate. Well, you can’t stay here, Owen. Owen: Why? Linda: I’m going to be having with sex Rick tonight. Owen: Rick? Rick: (appears) Hey, pal. (approaches) You know, I didn’t even know you here. Owen: Right back at you. Linda: Yeah, Owen’s just leaving. Rick: Sorry to overhear about your girlfriend. Linda: He’s gonna get back out there tonight. Rick: It’s the perfect night for it. A million fish in the barrel, ready to get shot. Linda: It’s a blessing. She blessed you with this. Rick: She’s gonna be getting pipe so you might as well lay some. Linda: Rickǃ Rick: That’s what this night is. Don’t shoot the messenger. I didn’t vote for the mandate. Linda: No one voted for it. It was passed by Congress. Rick: Which is a group of representatives that we all vote for. Linda: See, that’s what happens with one-issue voters. Rick: Nobody keeps their campaign promises anymore. Linda: It’s passed by old men… Rick: Besides, Big Tech… Linda: It’s No, Big Tech has nothing to do with it. Rick: Has its thumbs on vote… Linda: It was an ideological grenade thrown by old men who are not affected by itǃ Rick: Women voted for it, too, Gloria Steinemǃ Linda: (after silence, turns to Owen) You got to go, honey. Rick: Ooh, yeah, you got to go. Owen: Yep. (leaps off couch) Owen: You didn’t use it? Oh, my! After all that, you didn’t use it. Much ado about nothing, as the kids say. Allie: Kids don’t say that. Owen: They say it. They say it all the time. No Empire State Building sunrise for you. Allie: That’s a tired reference anyway. You ever been to the Empire State Building? You ride an escalator forever, and then you get up there, and you just stare at a fence. It’s not romantic at all. Allie: The worst place for it. Owen: Where would you go? Allie: I know exactly where I would go.
