Slappy and the Stinkers is a 1998 American direct-to-video adventure comedy film. It was released on March 31, 1998, in the United States by Columbia TriStar Home Video. Dialogue [It is an ordinary day at Dartmoor Academy. The sun is shining. A gentle breeze is blowing] [A banner sways back and forth. The words "Summer Enrichment Program" ripple in the wind] [Vroom! Roy, the groundskeeper, smirks. He revs his supercharged lawnmower. Vroom! Vroom! He makes a sharp right turn. A sharp left turn. He spins the wheel wide. Then he double-backs. Satisfied, he nods in agreement] [Roy has cut a grinning face in the campus lawn] [Inside the auditorium, students are trying to sing. It is opera appreciation. And they are practicing for the Parents' Day show] [Harriet, the music teacher, plays in the piano. She grins at the girls and boys. In front of the piano, Mr. Brinway, the headmaster, frowns. He holds up his arms, leading the song] Mr. Brinway: Hey! Stop! Stop! Let's try and keep in tune. [In annoyance, he bangs his baton. The students try again] [Eight-year-old Sonny DaSilva raises his hand. He crosses his legs and squirms] [Harriet nods to excuse him] [Sonny backs out of the auditorium. Immediately, two other hands shoot up. Then two more. The students double over. Desperate to go] [Harriet waves each one on] [Sonny waits at the top of the stairs. He smooths back his dark hair. Then he rolls up the sleeves of his T-shirt. Sonny looks rough. He acts hard. But he will do anything for his friends] [Just then, Lucy O'Hara skips over. Her sweet face breaks out in a smirk. The fun is about to begin] [Allen Witzowitz––Witz for short–––stumbles behind Lucy. He wheezes louder. Then he blows his nose] [Domino Dupree, a wiry African-American, and Lewis "Loaf" Hoover follow on their heels] [Sonny, Lucy, Witz, Domino and Loaf. Mr. Brinway wishes he's never set eyes on them. He calls them troublemakers. Stinkers. But the five friends don't mind. They like being Stinkers] Sonny: [checks his watch] Right on schedule. [With hesitation, Witz gazes around] Witz: What about Mr. Brinway? Perhaps we should really go to the bathroom. You know. Make it look well. [Sonny laughs as the five friends race out of the building] Sonny: Brinway's too busy singing. [But Mr. Brinway isn't that busy] Mr. Brinway: Spencer! Max! [Spencer and Max are big tattletales. And Mr. Brinway has a job for them] [The Stinkers hurry to the edge of campus. They duck inside Roy's shed] Witz: If Roy catches us, we're dead. [He peeks outside. No one is around. Sure. But what if Roy shows up? What if they get caught?] [If there is a reason to be hesitant, Witz will find it] [The friends lug out a big leaf blower] Witz: Roy will think we're stealing. He'll kill us twice. Lucy: That's impossible. You would run out of blood. [Blood? Witz opens his eyes wide. He makes a strange honking sound] Sonny: [snaps his fingers] Witz? Are you in or out? Witz: I'm–I'm–– [Everyone stares at him] In. I'm in. Sonny: Sure. [He nods in agreement] Because you're the test pilot. Witz: I'm out! I'm out! [But the Stinkers ignore his protests. Domino gives Witz a noogie] Domino: Alright, Witz! You the man! Witz: The man's out. Domino! Stop that! I have a headache! [Spencer and Max poke their heads around the shed. They see the Stinkers. And the leaf blower. The Stinkers are up to something. Certainly. They race back to Mr. Brinway] [Meanwhile, the Stinkers go to work. They plunk a helmet on Witz's head. Then they strap him into a desk chair. Domino tapes a giant kite to the top of the feeder] [Loaf fastens the leaf blower to the bottom. Loaf is a mechanical wizard. This is his invention. And he wants it to be perfect] Witz: Why me? Sonny: Because we voted. And you were at the doctor's. [Lucy takes a paintbrush. She writes a big "S" for Stinkers on the helmet] Lucy: Done. Loaf: Remember, there's an eject button. I rigged a rocket under the seat. And a parachute. Domino: [whispering] Boy, this is like Apollo 13. [He loves movies. He knows everything about them] Lucy: Apollo 13? Didn't they almost die? [Witz squeezes his eyes shut, shuddering] Witz: Warn my mum I loved her. [Loaf cranks the leaf blower. The engine roars. A cloud of smoke blows out] Sonny: Three. Two. One! [The blower rumbles. The kite shakes. Up, up, up it goes, taking the blower.....] [Leaving Witz and the chair on the ground] [The blower slices through the "Summer Enrichment Program" banner. It bumps down to the ground. Then it careens across campus. Up and down. Down and up] [Sonny, Loaf, Lucy and Domino take off after it] Witz: This isn't so hard. [The Stinkers race back. The blower has turned around] All: Run, Witz! [Witz opens his eyes. It is aiming right for him] [Witz fumbles with the straps. There. He is free. He bolts from the chair, just as the blower nicks the back of it] [Vroom! The blower is closing in. Witz races up to the others] [The Stinkers run for the auditorium steps. The door swings open. Mr. Brinway has gotten the report from Spencer and Max. He is coming out to find them] [He sees the Stinkers. Running. Eyes open in terror. He chuckles] [But what is that behind them? Mr. Brinway suddenly chokes on his laughter. Whatever it is, is flying right at him] [The Stinkers speed past him onto the porch] [Mr. Brinway drops to the ground. R-r-r-i-p! The blower buzzes the seat of his pants] [Mr. Brinway stumbles to his feet. Bright red underwear shows from the back of his pants] [The blower zips past the auditorium. It flies into the playground. The kite catches on the merry-go-round and whips around] [Mr. Brinway gasps. It is coming at him again. He bolts across campus] [The blower gains ground. It is catching up] [Roy guns his lawnmower. He pulls up behind Mr. Brinway. Just as the blower grazes Mr. Brinway's jacket, Roy tugs the headmaster up onto the lawnmower] [Mr. Brinway shivers, out of breath] Mr. Brinway: What is that nonsense? Roy: I don't know. But it's heading for your car! [Mr. Brinway yelps. His fancy new car] Roy: Don't worry, Mr. Brinway! [He bursts a wheelie. Grass spews everywhere, but mostly over Mr. Brinway. Then Roy races ahead of the blower] [Screech! He hits the brakes, right among the car. Mr. Brinway jumps off the mower. He pushes the buttons on his automatic key and the car's convertible top opens, its windshield wipers start, its horn honks and its alarm goes off. He dives into the car] [With hesitation, he peers back at the blower. It's too late since it is going to hit. Mr. Brinway braces for the smash] [Put-put-put. The blower sputters. It stops in midair. Then it drops like a rock, missing the car] [Mr. Brinway sighs with relief. It is over. His car is safe. He swings open the door, right into the lawnmower. Smash! He hears the sound of metal being crushed. He sees sparks fly. There is a big ugly hole in the car door] Roy: Oops. Forgot to turn off the grass cutter. [Mr. Brinway calls the Stinkers into his office. They stand in a row, at attention. Mr. Brinway paces in front of them. Back and forth. Back and forth. Harriet sits nearby, watching] Mr. Brinway: You sneaked out of opera appreciation. Stole a leaf blower. Damaged my car. Ruined my new seersucker suit. [Mr. Brinway's jacket is hitched up. His red underwear pokes through. Lucy chortles] Mr. Brinway: Most reluctant, you put a black mark on the Dartmoor name. Harriet: Mr. Brinway, I think you're being too hard on them. They just wanted to have fun. Mr. Brinway: Fun, Harriet? Opera appreciation. Now that's fun. This is not summer camp here. [He turns back to the Stinkers] Mr. Brinway: Now, where was I? Oh, yes. You're all expelled. [Lucy moans. Loaf gasps. Sonny's eyes widen. Witz wheezes. And Domino doesn't move. He is too stunned] Harriet: Mr. Brinway. Remember the board of trustees? The people who make decisions about the school? About you? I don't think they'd like this. [Mr. Brinway thinks for a moment] Harriet: What if the newspapers heard about this? The board would fire you. People would point at you and laugh. Mr. Brinway: Alright, that's it. Maybe I was a little harsh. Children, I'll give you one more chance. But you're on double probation. Step out of line just once and you're history! [Just then, Roy knocks at the door. He pushes the desk chair into the room] Roy: Found this behind some bushes. Would have rolled out of your office. [Mr. Brinway rolls his eyes. You can't fool him. The Stinkers have taken it. He sits down with a sigh] Loaf: Brief fact I disconnected the ejection seat. [Boom! The seat shoots up. Mr. Brinway explodes out the window. The Stinkers rush to look outside. The parachute opens, and Mr. Brinway floats to the ground] Loaf: Oh, well. Guess I didn't disconnect it after all. [Dismissed, the Stinkers trail after Roy. They want to apologize for borrowing his leaf blower. Roy grins at them] Roy: That's alright. It's cool. You made something fly. [Loaf does some fast figuring] Loaf: Next time we'll use more tape. And one of the lighter five-year-olds. [Beep, beep. A car horn honks. Parents are coming to pick up their children. The school day is over. Students rush across campus] [Mr. Brinway moans as he lifts a megaphone. He feels sore from his fall] Mr. Brinway: Attention, Dartmoor children. Our aquarium trip is tomorrow. And remember. No consent form? No trip! [Witz stands away to the side, waiting for his mum. Oops, he thinks. Danger heading this fashion] [Spencer and Max stride over] Spencer: How does it feel to be a loser? Witz: I'm not a loser. I'm a test pilot. Max: All you Stinkers are losers. [Spencer laughs and grabs Witz's backpack] Spencer: What a cheap, dorky fact. [He flips it upside down and jiggles it. Books, papers and pens topple out] Oops. Guess it wasn't closed. [He edges closer to Witz] [Suddenly, Sonny steps in between them] Sonny: Pick it up. Max: Why don't you make him? Loaf: Perhaps we will. [He jumps next to Sonny] Lucy: Stinkers rule! Others drool! [She bursts out from behind Loaf] [Domino creeps along the ground. He crawls close to Max. Smirking, he ties a string around Max's backpack. Then he ties the other end to a nearby car] Spencer: [snickers] Hit me and you'll break probation. [He saunters away. Max turns to follow. At that same instant, the car pulls off] Max: What? [The car yanks his backpack off his shoulders] [Domino jumps up and grins] Domino: Now how did that happen? [Max chases his backpack down the street. Spencer shrugs. Then he climbs into his father's car] Mr. Brinway: Look! It's Spencer Dane, Sr. Spencer's dad. That man is worth a fortune. He should be on the board of trustees. Then he would give money for my Brinway Music Festival. [Mr. Brinway rushes up to the expensive black car. Grinning, he taps on the window] [The car peels off] Mr. Brinway: Don't worry, Mr. Dane! We'll speak later! [The next day, Roy drives the Dartmoor bus to the Springfield Aquarium. A black van is pulling into the parking lot, as well] [Anthony Boccoli squeezes out of the van's front door. He slicks back his greasy black hair. He pushes up his thick black glasses. Then he knocks at the door of the employees' entrance] [A teenager named Tag cracks open the door] Tag: You have the money? [Boccoli waves the money in his face] [Tag nods in agreement] Tag: Meet me by the loading dock. The sea lion will be waiting. [Meanwhile, Mr. Brinway leads everyone inside the aquarium. He herds the students up to a display on a wall. Peering at an information card, he begins to read.....and read...and read] [The Stinkers yawn] Mr. Brinway: That's fronds. F...R...O...N...D...S, for these of you taking notes. [The Stinkers move to the back of the group] Domino: Field trips are supposed to be fun. [Sonny gazes around in boredom] Sonny: Where do they keep the murderous whales? Lucy: Murderous whales. Yes. Where are they? Witz: I think we should stay here. And move until Mr. Brinway says move. How many are with me? Raise your hands. C'mon. Don't be afraid. [The others slip around the corner] Witz: No hands? Nobody with me? [He waits a moment. And then, he follows] [The friends pass fish tank after fish tank. No murderous whales anywhere] [Sonny walks up to the front desk] Sonny: What's the most awesomest nonsense here? Woman: Well, there's Slappy. [A few moments later, the Stinkers are outside at the sea lion exhibit. They stare at Slappy. He is a sea lion. A chubby, happy sea lion with funny-looking whiskers and bright eyes] Loaf: Sure ain't no murderous whale. Slappy: Arf! [He gives a joyful bark. He claps his flippers. He dives for a fish. Then he rolls around and around in the water] Lucy: He's so bummed. Witz: What? [He peers at Slappy] He doesn't look bummed to me. Sonny: You don't understand sea lions. [A grin spreads across Slappy's face] Domino: He could die in there. Witz: That's right. [He snorts] [Loaf shakes his head, no] Loaf: The ocean is his home. That's where he belongs. [Sonny nods in agreement] Sonny: We have to free him. Witz: Free him? [He can't believe it] We don't even know him. [Domino grins in agreement] Domino: Free Willy...Free Slappy. [Sonny squares his shoulders] Sonny: If one boy can free a whale, then five can free a sea lion. [Roy walks around the aquarium. He stops at the octopus tank] Roy: Here, boy...or girl. Come play with Uncle Roy! [Roy waits. No octopus. Then he dangles his bus keys over the tank] [A tentacle shoots out of the water. It grabs the keys. Then it disappears] Roy: Hey, octopus! Give them back! [Nothing] [Sighing, Roy takes off his hat. He holds it over the tank. He waits for the octopus to surface] [But these keys are not to be seen] [Mr. Brinway is droning on and on. Students nap on the floor. They lean against walls. Nobody is listening] Spencer: Mr. Brinway! [In annoyance, Mr. Brinway snaps out of it] Mr. Brinway: What? [Then he sees it is Spencer] What's wrong, son? Spencer: The Stinkers are gone! [Mr. Brinway stops speaking] [The Stinkers are planning the Slappy breakout. Shall they use a giant crane? Swim through sewers?] [No, these ideas won't work] [Tag comes into Slappy's yard. He prods Slappy to go inside. The Stinkers can't see what is behind the door] Lucy: Hey, wait! That man is taking Slappy! Witz: Forget Slappy! Here comes Mr. Brinway! [Mr. Brinway charges through the doors] Mr. Brinway: Stinkers, freeze! [The Stinkers exchange looks] Witz: I say we freeze. How many are with me? Sonny: Run! [Everyone races back into the aquarium] [Mr. Brinway bolts after them] Mr. Brinway: Where are these Stinkers? [He checks the seashell exhibit. Near the lobster tanks. Then he ducks into the gift shop] [They aren't near the books.....or the postcards....or the fish masks. He heads into the poster section] Mr. Brinway: Wait! There's something fishy about these masks. [He stops to laugh at his joke. In a flash, the Stinkers look out from under their masks. They dash for the door] [A second later, they fly past Roy and the octopus tank] Sonny: Hi, Roy! [They race around a girl, another man, and then a boy] Witz: Oops! [They knock the boy's skateboard to the floor. But they don't have time to stop. Sonny flings open a side door. And everyone rushes inside] [Mr. Brinway breathes hard, trying to keep up. He speeds among Roy. Then he slips on something. The skateboard. He rolls forward] Mr. Brinway: Oh! [Splash! Into the octopus tank] [Slowly, Mr. Brinway rises out of the water. The octopus is stuck on his face. And the octopus holds the keys in one tentacle] [In a backroom, Sonny creeps out of hiding] Sonny: I think we lost him. [Domino, Lucy and Loaf come out from behind some boxes. Witz follows a second later] Slappy: Arf! [Witz jumps. That sound. It isn't Mr. Brinway. It is coming from a crate...it is...] [Sonny flips off the cover. Slappy] Lucy: Oh, he's in a cage. Poor little baby. [She bends close to the sea lion. Slappy sticks out his nose. He nuzzles her cheek] You want to go home? To the ocean? Slappy: Arf! Arf! Sonny: It's fate. We have to free him! [He opens the cage] [Outside, Boccoli stands on the loading dock. He is arguing with Tag] Boccoli: Don't say "forget it". [He waves at a cage and a pile of fish] I'm ready for that sea lion. I have to have him! Tag: But I almost got caught. Get him yourself! [Tag opens the door to go inside] Slappy: Arf! [He bursts into the bright sunshine. The door closes shut. Click. It locks the Stinkers inside] [Boccoli pushes Slappy into the tiny cage. It is so easy, Tag decides to help. Then he grabs the money] Tag: You're on your own. [And he disappears inside] [Boccoli sighs. He has to get his van. And there'll be no one to watch Slappy] Boccoli: Don't go nowhere, fatso. [Glancing over his shoulder, he leaves] [Just then, the Stinkers round the corner. They have managed to break out of the room. They spot the cage] Lucy: It's Slappy! Isn't this grand? Witz: Grand isn't the word. Sonny: Don't worry. [He reaches in to pat Slappy's head. He sweeps up the pile of fish] We'll get you out. [A moment later, Boccoli drives up. But Slappy is gone] [Loaf walks backward in front of Slappy. Every few steps, he holds out a fish. Slappy waddles forward. He snatches each and every one––until he waddles onto the bus] Witz: Guys! Isn't someone going to notice this? I mean Slappy is a big, fat, smelly sea lion. [Slappy frowns at him] Witz: I'm sorry, Slappy. You're really a brief-looking sea lion. [Slappy grins in agreement] Sonny: He needs a disguise. [Loaf peels off his Dartmoor sweatshirt. Everyone squeezes and heaves and pushes Slappy into it. They snap a shark mask over his face. Then Loaf crouches under the seat where Slappy can pretend to be him. But the Stinkers yet can't hide Slappy's smell. The odor floats through the bus] Spencer: Boy! One of you Stinkers really stinks! [Roy opens the window. Mr. Brinway huddles in his seat, cold and wet. He shoots the Stinkers a dirty look. They are sitting there nice and silent. Looking so sweet in their masks. But his octopus swim is all their fault] [Screech! Boccoli tears into the parking lot. As the bus pulls past, he reads the name "Dartmoor Academy"] [Huh, he thinks. Dartmoor] [Back at Dartmoor, the Stinkers have another problem. What have they done with Slappy now?] Sonny: Mr. Brinway's hot tub! [They head across campus to Mr. Brinway's house. Slappy waddles behind. Roy has used fish fertilizer on the grass and Slappy is digging it up to eat it. He is leaving a long deep rut] [Witz shuffles along. Using Mr. Brinway's backyard? That is just crazy. First they have to climb a fence to get in. And what if somebody is there?] Witz: Yip! Yip! [He jumps. Somebody is at the house. But it is only Brinway's little dog, Gordon] [The dog scampers through a doggy door. He disappears inside the house. Witz lets out a breath. Now it is safe] [The Stinkers gather around the hot tub] Lucy: Look, Slappy. [She coaxes him closer] It's water. Just like home. [Slappy turns up his nose] Sonny: Perhaps it's too hot. And Slappy probably likes saltwater. [The Stinkers crawl into the kitchen through the doggy door. Sonny finds a big bag of salt. Domino takes ice cubes from the freezer. The Stinkers pour everything into the tub] [Domino tests the water] Domino: It's perfect! C'mon, Slap. [Slappy shakes his head, no] Loaf: if you go in, we'll give you more fish. [Slappy dives right in] [Witz checks the fish supply] Witz: We have danger. There is no F-I-S-H! [Slappy jumps out of the water. Slap, slap, slap goes his flippers. Furious, he splashes the Stinkers] Lucy: This is eerie! He can spell! [There is only one fashion to do. Order a load of fish from Barney the Buccaneer. And while they are at it, they order some fries] [The food comes a little while later. The Stinkers feed Slappy. They play catch and tag. They laugh and joke and munch on fries] [Eventually, Witz checks his watch. It is almost five] Witz: Guys, I hate to mess up a best time–– Loaf: C'mon, Witz. You love it. Witz: But we have to get back to school. My mum will have a cow if I'm not there. Sonny: Stay there, Slappy. We'll be back soon. [Slappy nods and dives for another fish] Witz: What about Mr. Brinway? [Sonny laughs heartily] Sonny: He never leaves early. [At that same moment, Mr. Brinway stands up] Mr. Brinway: I'm going home early. [He shivers. He is yet wet from his dunk in the octopus tank. And the next day is Parents' Day at school. He needs to rest] [Mr. Brinway hugs his jacket closer. Then he trudges to his car] Roy: Mr. Brinway! [He checks the long trench in the ground once again. It has to be a gopher hole, he decides. What else can it be?] [He pulls up to Mr. Brinway on his lawnmower] Roy: I don't want to start a panic. But there's a humongous gopher here. Five or six feet long! [Mr. Brinway shields his car. Roy and his lawnmower make him hesitant] Mr. Brinway: A six-foot gopher? Oh, yes. And have you seen that fifty-foot chipmunk? [He snickers. Then he drives faster off] [Roy scratches his head] Roy: Fifty-foot chipmunk? He's really nuts. [Mr. Brinway turns the heat on in the car. He keeps his eyes straight ahead. He doesn't notice the black van. Or the big man sitting inside] [At the house, Gordon races up to Mr. Brinway] Gordon: Yip! Yip! [He jumps up and down] Mr. Brinway: Not now, Gordon. Daddy doesn't want to play. [Slappy has his head in the refrigerator. Slurp! Slurp! He snuffles up everything in sight. Head down, Mr. Brinway shuffles past] [Mr. Brinway pauses in the hallway. Shall he go back to the kitchen? Get something to eat?] [No, he decides. He'll change out of his wet clothes. He'll put on some music] [A few moments later, opera music fills the house. Mr. Brinway comes out of the bedroom. He wears a bathing suit and a robe and a matching blue bathing cap. He grins, thinking about the hot tub. How well it will feel to relax] Slappy: Arf! Arf! [He waddles out of the kitchen––just as Mr. Brinway walks in] Mr. Brinway: That's some bark. Are you getting a cold? Whoops! [He slips on an ice cube and flies into the air. Thud! Mr. Brinway lands flat on his back] Better get that ice maker fixed. [He stands up and rubs his back] Oh, I need that hot tub. Right now. [Mr. Brinway rushes into the tub] Mr. Brinway: Oww! [He shoots up fast] Brr! That's cold. [He lowers himself in again slowly] This water tastes salty. And fishy! [Just then, Sonny peeks over the fence] Sonny: Brinway is in the hot tub. [Witz gasps in shock] Witz: With Slappy? Sonny: No, with himself. Lucy: Then where's Slappy? [The Stinkers peer through every window. Eventually, they spot Slappy in the living room. Zzzzzz. He is fast asleep on the recliner] [The Stinkers nod in agreement. They see him. Now they just have to get him] [Mr. Brinway climbs out of the tub. Then he notices a crumpled paper wrapper. It says "Barney the Buccaneer"] Mr. Brinway: That's it! People had a festival here. They change the temperature in the hot tub. They ate fish! [He storms into the kitchen to call the police] [Sonny jumps down into the yard. He steals inside behind Mr. Brinway] [B-r-i-n-g! The doorbell rings. Mr. Brinway tugs his robe closed. He flings open the door] [No one is there] Mr. Brinway: That's strange. [He steps outside to investigate] [Bang! The door closes shut. Mr. Brinway twists around. His robe is stuck. He pulls the door, only to find it is locked] Mr. Brinway: [shouts] Gordon! [He pounds the door] Let me in! [Then he realizes. Gordon is a dog] [Mr. Brinway slips out of his robe. He peers left. He peers right. Then he dashes around the house...into the backyard] [The front door swings open. Sonny bursts out, tugging Slappy behind him. The other Stinkers jump into the open. They hurry to help] Loaf: What have we done with him now? [Everyone turns to Witz] Witz: Why me? [He is home in bed. The blanket is pulled up to his chin. Slappy lays next to him. His nose pokes out of the covers] Why does Slappy have to stay with me? [The other Stinkers stand outside the window] Sonny: Because you're the one with a double bed. [The Stinkers wave a farewell] Sonny: And don't make a sound. Not even a wheeze. It will get Slappy emotional. [Witz freezes like a statue. He doesn't move a muscle. Who knows what Slappy will do?] [Then he feels it. A wheeze coming on. He clamps his mouth shut. He tries to hold it in] [HONK!!] [Slappy jerks his head. He barks. Once. Twice. Loud and louder] Witz: Uhh! [He hears his mum in the hallway] [Swiftly, he tosses a blanket over Slappy] [Mrs. Witzowitz opens the door] Mrs. Witzowitz: I don't like that cough. [Witz coughs] Witz: Arf! Arf! [Does he sound enough like a sea lion?] [Mrs. Witzowitz wrinkles her nose] Mrs. Witzowitz: What did you eat today? Fish? It would have upset your stomach. [Then she glances at the blanket] And what's that lump? [She pulls back the cover. Witz waits for the shriek] [Nothing] [Slappy has disappeared] [Mrs. Witzowitz shakes her head, no] Mrs. Witzowitz: Anyhow, I'm going to give you Z-Lax Junior. It will help your stomach. [Witz hides a shudder. That medicine. It means going to the bathroom. A lot] Witz: Yes, Mum. [Mrs. Witzowitz hands him a square from a Z-Lax bar] Mrs. Witzowitz: Goodnight, darling. [She closes the door behind her] [Witz jumps out of bed. He looks under the bed. Slappy swings his head out, and gives him a big wet kiss] Witz: Yuck! [He rubs his face] Sea lion slobber. [G-r-r-r. Witz's stomach rumbles] Witz: I have to go to the bathroom. I hope you're happy. [He pushes him back under the bed] Stay here. And keep silent. [As soon as Witz leaves, Slappy bursts out. He spots the Z-Lax bar. Mmm-mm. Slappy grins. He sucks it down one, two, three] [G-R-R-R, goes his stomach. G-R-R-R!!] [Slappy races into the bathroom, as well] [That night, Roy dresses in black. He puts on special night goggles. Then he opens a box marked "Gopher Bombs"] [He is ready] [Roy creeps out of his shed. He has the bombs in one hand. The launcher in the other. Where is that giant gopher?] [On the other side of the fence, Boccoli squints in the dark. He tosses over a big fish. Then he starts to climb] Boccoli: I have to start exercising. [He shivers and gets to the top. Suddenly, he loses his balance. His arms flail. He falls over] [Thud! His glasses fly off his nose] [Meanwhile, Roy crawls along the ground. He stops. Does he hear something among the fence? A gopher?] Boccoli: Where are my glasses? [He feels along the ground. He can't see a fact] [His hand touches something. Is that it? He grabs it. He tries to put it on his nose] Boccoli: Pew! [It is the fish] [Roy peers through his goggles. He spies something big, creeping on the ground. The gopher] [Roy sneaks closer. He grips the launcher. He takes aim and lets the bomb fly] [Boccoli reaches for something else on the ground. His glasses. Grinning, he puts them on. He can see. He can see...a smoking bomb coming right at him] [Boom!] [Roy rushes up a second later] Roy: Missed him. [He sighs. There is nothing there] [Boccoli has flung himself over the fence. His clothes are burned to black] [And the fish is fried] [Witz awakens early in the morning. He sprays the bathroom with air freshener. Again. Nothing like a sick sea lion, he thinks. Then he sneaks Slappy out of the house] [The Stinkers gather in the woods near Dartmoor. The plan is to bring Slappy home. To take him to the ocean] [Loaf rubs his hands together. He has the perfect invention to do it. A bathtub on wheels. Loaf hooks a rope from the tub to his bicycle. And it is set] Sonny: One, two, three. [Away they roll. The Stinkers smirk. It works. Grinning, they climb on their bikes] [The bathtub sways and bounces along the road. Slappy moans, sick to his stomach] [The friends bike along the coat. Underneath them, the ocean sparkles. Waves lap a sandy beach] [Sonny leads the Stinkers to the shore] Sonny: Look, Slappy. [The water stretches so far, you can't see the end] [Slappy hides his head] Sonny: This is it. You're home! [Slappy covers his eyes. This isn't the aquarium. He tries to grip the tub with his flippers. To stay inside. But the Stinkers haul him out] [They push Slappy across the sand. They reach the water, and stop. Foamy waves slosh their sneakers] [For a moment, they gaze at the sea lion] Lucy: I'm going to miss you, Slappy. [She gives him a hug] [Domino pats his head] Domino: So do I, Slap. Loaf: So am I. [Sonny's voice shakes] Sonny: We're all going to miss you. Witz: I'm not in the mood. No offense. But seeing you on my toilet? That was quite enough! [Sonny holds out a fish. He wants to give Slappy one last meal] [Slappy shakes his head, no. He doesn't want it] Domino: Something's wrong. Lucy: No. There's bazillions of fish in the ocean. Slappy knows it. Dive in! Slappy: Arf! [The Stinkers push. They prod. And they pull. Slappy doesn't budge] [Suddenly, they hear a splash. A murderous whale jumps out of the water. It hangs for a moment in the air. Then it dives back down] [Everyone stares in confusion. Slappy's eyes grow wide with fear] Sonny: It's Willy! Don't you want to be with Willy? [Slappy trembles in fear] Loaf: But wait! Don't murderous whales eat sea lions? Slappy: Arf! [The whale surfaces again. Closer this time. Water shoots out of his blowhole] [Slappy jumps into the tub] [The Stinkers sigh in despair. No fashion can they send Slappy into the ocean. They need another plan] Witz: I say we free Slappy. Back into the aquarium! [Slappy claps his flippers] Sonny: You're right. [Witz is surprised] Witz: I am? [Sonny grins appreciatively] Sonny: We'll unmess our mess. We'll take Slappy back to the aquarium. His real home! [Back at Dartmoor, Mr. Brinway marches across campus. He wears a sea captain's uniform. It is for the opera they've be putting on later. A ship bobs on an outdoor stage, ready for the performance] [Mr. Brinway holds up his megaphone] Mr. Brinway: Showtime, everyone! [The parents will be there any moment. And Mr. Brinway wants everything to be perfect] [Mr. Brinway nods in agreement. The food booths look grand. The spin art booth does, as well. Frisbees whirl, spraying paint onto paper] [He checks the Ping-Pong toss. Again, Mr. Brinway nods yes. Bowls of goldfish for prizes. Now, that is a nice touch] [Everything is going smoothly, Mr. Brinway thinks] [The Stinkers aren't even around. If he are lucky, they won't show at all] [Parents begin to arrive. Mr. Brinway grins. Now where is Spencer Dane, Sr.? This is his chance. He will get Spencer's dad to join the board. Then he'll be sure to donate money for the Brinway Music Festival] Mr. Brinway: Ah! There he is. Speaking to Harriet. [Mr. Brinway strolls over] Mr. Dane: Call me Spence. [He grins at Harriet] Mr. Brinway: I've been meaning to ask you, Mr. Dane. [He trails off. He waits for the man to say "Call me Spence"] [Spencer's father just looks at him. Eventually, he snaps out of it] Mr. Dane: What is this, Brinway? [As Mr. Brinway doesn't respond right on time, he stalks away] Mr. Brinway: We'll speak later. [A large man in black glasses sweeps past Mr. Brinway] [Boccoli] Boccoli: Grand school. [Mr. Brinway ignores him. His eyes narrow. What is that he heard? Familiar voices. Voices he knows all too well] [The Stinkers] [The five friends hurry through the crowd] Lucy: Perhaps we would have stayed with Slappy. He seemed hungry. Sonny: He'll be fine. Right where he is. [Meanwhile, Roy edges around the parents. Just outside his shed, he stops in his tracks] Slappy: Arf! [The gopher. It is hiding in the tall grass. Roy drops to his stomach. He slithers through the blades] Slappy: Arf! [Roy follows the barks. They are getting louder. And closer. Roy springs forward and as he looks into the tall grass...] Roy: Aah! Slappy: Aah! [He has jumped out of the tub, and now...waddle, waddle, waddle. He scuttles off] Roy: That gopher's bigger than I thought! [He hitches up his pants. He grabs his hedge trimmer. And he takes off after him] [Slappy scurries through the grass. He sniffs. Then he grins. Fish. There are fish nearby] [Slappy waddles to the booths. He pokes his head into the back of the Ping-Pong toss. Twenty-five goldfish swim in twenty-five bowls. A feast] [Slappy lunges for the table] Woman: Oh! [Children drop their Ping Pong balls and run] [Slappy stuffs his snout into a bowl] Slappy: Oww! [He is stuck. He can't reach the fish] [Shuddering, he pushes off the bowl. He sits in the middle of the goldfish. Stumped. How can he get them?] [Suddenly, Roy jumps into the booth. Vroom! He revs his hedge trimmer. The blade shakes with power] [Slappy bolts] Slappy: Arf! [He races past Sonny and his mum] Sonny's Mum: Wasn't that a sea lion? Sonny: I didn't see nothing. [Slappy skitters past Boccoli. Boccoli squints. The sea lion] [Slappy whizzes past Domino and his dad] [Slappy and Roy skid into the pastry booth. Roy vaults onto the table. Stamp! Stamp! He stomps all over tubes of icing. Squirt! Red, green and yellow cream squeeze out] [They speed past Spencer, who is all alone on the Moon Bounce] [Standing in the crowd, Mr. Brinway peers around. What is all the commotion? Is Roy chasing a sea lion?] Roy: I've had the gopher, Mr. Brinway! He's in the bushes! [Mr. Brinway grabs the hedge trimmer] Mr. Brinway: That's not a gopher! [He swings the trimmer separately from Roy] [R-r-r-i-p! The trimmer tears into the Moon Bounce] [Pfffft! The Moon Bounce begins to deflate like a giant balloon. It sputters and slides across the ground. The fearful astronaut holds on tight] Mr. Brinway: No! This isn't going on! [The runaway Moon Bounce careens through the crowds. It smashes through the Parents' Day banner. Thump! It destroys the spin art booth. Paint cans fly into the air. Spenccer Jr. flies out and he and his father dive for cover. But it's no use. The paint rains down, covering them in red, blue, yellow and green from head to toe] Slappy: Arf! [He is slowing down] [The Stinkers hurry over] Lucy: Don't hurt Slappy! Mr. Brinway: Stay out of this! He's a dangerous beast. Loaf: No, he's not. He's our friend! Spencer, Sr.: Brinway! [He strides over and frowns. Paint drips off him, falling to the ground] Mr. Brinway: It-it-it's not my fault. It was the Stinkers. And their friend, Sloppy. Roy: It think it's Slappy. [But Spencer doesn't want to hear any excuses. He storms away. Mr. Brinway watches hopelessly] Mr. Brinway: There goes the Brinway Music Festival. [Slappy gazes at the crowds. At Mr. Brinway] Slappy: Arf! [He breaks free. The Stinkers race after him into the woods] Lucy: Slappy, please, wait! Nobody's going to hurt you. [Boccoli jumps out from behind a tree. He catches hold of Slappy. But before the Stinkers can stop him, Boccoli snaps a leash around Slappy's neck] Boccoli: Got ya now! Sonny: Who are you? Boccoli: I'm from the aquarium. And I'm taking this sea lion back! [Boccoli jerks the leash] Slappy: Unh! [He pulls back. Lucy can warn he doesn't like this man] Lucy: The leash is too tight. You're choking him! Boccoli: Better get back. He'll bite! [Sonny gives him a funny look] Sonny: He wouldn't bite anybody. Witz: Yes. [He steps forward] Leave him alone! [Boccoli frowns at Witz] Boccoli: You're lucky I don't have you arrested. Or seal-taking charges! Witz: Seal-napping charges? Jail? No luck! [He steps back] [Sonny pets Slappy softly] Sonny: You're going home. [The sea lion shudders. He looks pleadingly at the Stinkers] Lucy: Don't worry. We'll visit! [The Stinkers hear one last little lament. And Slappy is gone] [No more little barks. No more grins. No more Slappy. The Stinkers trudge back to campus] [Witz sighs in misery. He is going to miss that crazy sea lion. No matter how much damage he's been] [And speaking of danger......he thinks] [Dartmoor campus is in shambles. Booths are torn apart. Food and paint and paper litter the grounds] [Mr. Brinway paces in front of the deflated Moon Bounce. All the Stinkers' parents gather around him] Mr. Brinway: My beautiful school! It looks like a war zone. [He points at the friends as they come closer] And you Stinkers did it! [Sonny steps forward. He looks Mr. Brinway in the eye] Sonny: We wanted to help Slappy. It was my idea, sir. Then if you want to blame someone, blame me! Lucy: And me. Domino: And me. Loaf: And me! [Witz gazes at his feet] Witz: I'm afraid me, as well. [Mr. Brinway sneers] Mr. Brinway: Very touching. But you're all expelled. For life! [Expelled. For once, the Stinkers are silent. Slowly, they walk to their cars] [A van pulls up behind them. It says "Springfield Aquarium" on the side. The Stinkers exchange looks. Is it that man again? Has he come back?] [A different man jumps out, and a woman] Nancy: We've had a call about a sea lion! Domino: You're too late. Some guy from the aquarium already picked him up. [The man, Tommy, frowns furiously] Tommy: That's not possible. What did he look like? Loaf: Big. Ugly. Thick glasses. Greasy hair. Nancy: Sounds like Anthony Boccoli had his sea lion. He bribed a worker to get Slappy. Now he's going to sell Slappy to a circus. One that doesn't take care of animals. [Sonny's face turns pale] Sonny: You're going to save him. Right? [Tommy shakes his head, no] Tommy: I wish we could. But the police don't have time. And we don't have money or people to track him down. We can only hope he's alright. [The Stinkers exchange looks. Lucy hugs herself tight. This is so awful. So horrible] [And there is nothing they can do] [The next day, the Stinkers bike to Dartmoor. They are yet expelled. But they want to be together. Then they meet in Roy's shed] Sonny: Hey, Roy. Is it alright we're here? Roy: Sure. Just don't let Brinway see you. [He gazes at the Stinkers one by one] You all seem down. Lucy: It's Slappy. [Sonny nods in agreement] Sonny: First we freed him. And he didn't need to be freed. Then we gave him to a naughty man. Now he needs to be freed. And we can't do a fact. [Witz kicks a pebble] Witz: We're losers. Just like Max and Spencer thought. [Slowly, Roy stands up. He turns serious] Roy: That's enough. You guys are Stinkers. That means something. Every boy wants to be a Stinker. But they don't have the guts. [The Stinkers stare back] Roy: You're special. Then raise your heads up high. [He pauses to look at the friends] Roy: There now. How do you feel? Lucy: Lousy. [Roy shrugs his shoulders] Roy: Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. [Witz slumps against the lawnmower] Witz: Slappy would be a million miles afar. Roy: Perhaps not. [The Stinkers perk up] Sonny: Do you think Boccoli lives around here? Roy: Oh, sure. Why not? You do. Domino: Yes, we do. [He grins appreciatively. Perhaps there is something to this] [Loaf picks up the gopher bomb launcher. He eyes a stack of potatoes] [You never know, he thinks. If we find Boccoli? This can come in handy] [The Stinkers have work to do. They have to find Boccoli. But where will they look?] Loaf: One fact is for sure. He needs a lot of fish. [The Stinkers nod in agreement. They jump on their bikes. Ten moments later, they stand at the docks. Fish stand after fish stand line the crowded alley] [The Stinkers gaze around. It is so hard to see. They'll have to check everywhere. Scout the area] [The Stinkers race from concession stand to refreshment stand. From dockhand to dockhand] [No one has seen Boccoli. No one can help] [In disappointment, the Stinkers sit on a curb. What have they done now? Lucy lifts her head to think––and sees Boccoli] [He is standing at the other end of the alley. Dockhands load fish into his van. Boccoli hands money to a large woman. Then he drives off] [The Stinkers run over] Sonny: Excuse me. But we know that man. Did he say where he lives? Woman: That creep! He's living in the old sawmill on Mud Mountain. [The Stinkers rush to their bikes. But Witz hangs back] Witz: We can't go to Mud Mountain. Boccoli will murder us! [Sonny stops in his tracks. He turns to Witz] Sonny: We've had Slappy into this. We have to get him out! Domino: We're all Slappy has. Lucy: Yes, we're his family. And families stick together. Loaf: Remember what Roy said? We're Stinkers. And that means something. [Witz thinks about Boccoli. About the danger. Then he pictures Slappy. Grinning. Eating. Barking] Witz: Let's rumble! [The sawmill looks deserted. The Stinkers stand outside. They gaze around the logging camp. Rusty pieces of machine lay scattered on the ground. Big logs are strewn everywhere] [The Stinkers separate. They each work faster. Silently] [Then they meet behind a giant log] Sonny: It's a go! [He lifts Mr. Brinway's megaphone] [Inside the mill, Boccoli eyes the unhappy sea lion. Slappy perches on a barrel. He wears a clown hat and a bright red nose. A flaming hoop stands before him] [Slappy shakes with fear] [Boccoli pokes him with a long stick] Boccoli: You want to eat? Then jump through the hoop! I promised the circus a trained seal! [Boccoli jabs Slappy again. Slappy jumps. He sails into the air. But he misses the hoop. Splat! He lands flat on his belly] Boccoli: You stink! [He shouts at Slappy to get up. He lifts the stick] [A loud voice stops him] Sonny: Anthony Boccoli! You are surrounded by police and Marines. Come out with your hands up! [Boccoli chains Slappy to a beam. It runs from the floor to the ceiling] Boccoli: There! That should hold you. [Then he lumbers outside] [Sonny stands in the middle of the camp. Holding a megaphone. Alone] Boccoli: You're in danger, boy. [He sneers. He waves his stick and lurches forward] Sonny: Now! [Lucy jumps out of hiding. She aims a giant hose. Water gushes out, drenching Boccoli] Boccoli: What the? [Witz turns on the leaf blower. Domino empties a box of sawdust right in front of it. Whoosh! A cloud of dust zooms through the air. It covers Boccoli from head to toe. He tries to pick at the wood shavings. They are stuck fast] [Boccoli drops his stick. He wipes his glasses clean. Pffft! Sonny launches a potato right at him. A direct hit. Pffft! Another potato smashes into his stomach. Boccoli doubles over] Boccoli: I'm being attacked by the seven dwarfs! [He frowns at Sonny, Domino, Lucy and Witz. They all stand together in a line, frowning furiously] Boccoli: I'll murder you! [He charges straight for them] Sonny: Wait! Wait...wait...now! [At the last second, the four friends scatter] Loaf: Surprise! [He grips a giant saw at one end. A big rock holds down the other end. Loaf lets go. Boing! The saw springs forward. It hits Boccoli smack on the nose] [The big man crumples to the ground. Swiftly, Lucy and Witz loop a rope around his ankles. Domino ties the other end around a barrel filled with rocks at the edge of a deep well. The barrel teeters on the edge of the well. Domino is pushing the barrel. He pushes and pushes, expecting the barrel to fall down. To take Boccoli with it] [Nothing happens at first] [All at once, Boccoli jumps to his feet. He grabs Lucy's foot] [Lucy tries to scoot back. But Boccoli holds her fast] Lucy: Let me go! [Boccoli pulls her closer. And closer] Lucy: Witz! Help me! [Witz grits his teeth. He flings himself at Boccoli. He wraps his legs around his neck] Boccoli: Argh! [He topples backward. In a flash, Lucy scrambles free. But Boccoli locks his arms around Witz] [Meanwhile, Domino is yet pushing] Domino: I'm too skinny! [They push, as well. The barrel edges forward] [Boccoli grips Witz hard. He jerks at the rope at his feet. He is loosening it. Freeing himself] [Witz closes his eyes] Witz: I'm done. I'm dead. [The rope suddenly tightens. It digs into Boccoli's ankles] Boccoli: Hey! [He is yanked backward into the air] [Witz opens his eyes] Witz: I'm alive! [Boccoli swings upside down in the sawmill doorway] Lucy: Witz! [She hugs him] You saved me. You're a hero. [Witz shrugs his shoulders] Witz: It was nothing. Well. Alright. It was something. Boccoli: Get me down! [The Stinkers rush around him. They skid to a stop inside the mill] All: Slappy! [He looks so...so silly] Slappy: Arf! [Slappy nuzzles Lucy. He gives Witz a kiss] Witz: Alright, that's it. [He laughs] You're welcome. [Sonny tugs on Slappy's chain] Sonny: We have to bust this. [Domino spies a large hammer in the corner. He and Loaf lug it over. Bang! They hit it down. Sparks fly. But the chain holds fast] Lucy: Oh! [She points at the doorway] He's back! [Boccoli looms before them. His clothes are in shreds. His hair stands on end. And his nose is the size of a beach ball] Boccoli: It's over. [He grabs Sonny by the shirt] Slappy: Arf! [He rams into Boccoli, complete force. Boccoli staggers. He grazes the hoop with the seat of his pants] Boccoli: Ow! Hot! Hot! [In a rush, the Stinkers lead Slappy outside] Slappy: Arf! [He jerks to a stop. He is yet chained] All: Pull, Slappy! Pull! [Slappy takes a deep breath. He dives forward with all his might. Again and again] [Boccoli staggers to his feet. He stumbles to the door] Slappy: Arf! [He yanks the chain. The chain pulls the beam. Creak! The beam bends. Further and further. Thwack! Slappy tears it right out of the floor] [Smash! Bang! Boom! The roof falls in. The sawmill collapses like a house of cards] [The Stinkers stare in shock. It is nothing but a heap of wood] Slappy: Arf! [He is yet stuck. The chain is buried under the pile] Loaf: Wait a moment! [He slips the collar over Slappy's head. It was that easy] [Creak! Something moves...the pile of rubble shifts. Boccoli crawls out] Domino: That guy is like the Terminator. But blind. [The Stinkers don't have a moment to lose. They race to the woods. Swiftly, they pull branches off the old bathtub. It is their only hope] Witz: Are you sure this will work? Loaf: I've added hockey stick brakes and a steering wheel. I assure you. I'm afraid not. [Everyone climbs inside. Loaf sits in a seat in the back to work the brakes. Sonny scoots behind the wheel] [And they are off] [The Stinkers roll down the steep mountain road. Faster and faster. They are gaining speed. The road twists and turns. Witz closes his eyes, afraid to peek] [Vroom! Boccoli and his van speed up behind them. Boccoli guns the engine. He hits the tub. One brake splinters] [Loaf dives out of the backseat] Loaf: Thought I'd sit here for a while. [Sonny peers over his shoulder. Boccoli is about to ram them again. Swiftly, he jerks the wheel. The tub swerves off the road. Bump! It hits an old logging trail. And keeps picking up speed] [Snap! Branches whip in their faces. Wind lashes their faces. But perhaps they have lost Boccoli] [Witz glances back and moans. He is hot on their tracks] [A little road down the trail, all is peaceful. Mr. Brinway sighs merrily. He is leading a bird-watching field trip. Without the Stinkers. Nothing can go wrong] [Harriet and Roy turn their heads. They've heard a strange rumbling. It isn't Gordon. He sits at their feet, wagging his tail] Roy: Mr. Brinway! Did you hear that? Mr. Brinway: Silence! It could be a common loon. Very rare. Don't frighten it. [He trains his binoculars up to the heavens. Where is that bird?] [Screech! The tub bursts out of the bushes] Sonny: Watch out, Mr. Brinway! [Gordon jumps into Mr. Brinway's arms, just as the tub barrels into him] Mr. Brinway: Aah! [A few seconds later, Gordon comes down and lands right in Roy's arms. Gordon barks merrily. He licks Roy's face] Stop this tub! [But the Stinkers can't listen. Boccoli is closing in] [The tub bounces and jounces down the trail. Suddenly, Sonny sucks in his breath. Up ahead. They are heading for a shed] [The tub sails into the shed. Bang! It bumps up a ramp] [Witz chokes back a lament. He knows what this leads to. A flume. A giant slide used to send logs down the mountain] [Down the mountain? And they only have one brake] [Loaf leans hard on the hockey stick. R-r-r-r! It digs into the bottom of the ramp] [Not deep enough, thinks Witz] [The tub keeps going. It slows down a little. Then a little more. It skids to the end of the ramp. Evenutally it stops, but it is hanging over the edge] [The Stinkers peer down. The flume drops sharply down the mountainside...it is a long eerie ride into a deep, deep lake] [The tub teeters forward. They are going over] [Everyone leans back. The tub teeters back] [Vroom! An engine roars behind them. They hear a door lock. Footsteps] [Lucy peers around. Boccoli is rushing over. There is only one fashion to escape] Sonny: We're going down the flume! Mr. Brinway: I'm not. [He rises to his feet] Loaf: Oh, yes, you are. [The tub teeters. It totters. And then, it takes off like a shot down the flume] Mr. Brinway: HEEELLLPPP!!! [The drop is so sheer. Witz clutches his stomach] [Boccoli laughs heartily. Then he spots a water valve] Boccoli: Turn that, and water will rush down the flume. They'll really be done. [Yet chuckling, he twists the wheel. Drip, drip. A trickle of water spurts out. Something clogs the pipe] [Boccoli climbs into the flume. He reaches inside the water pipe. Leaves. Twigs, he thinks. A beaver's dam is lodged inside. Boccoli tears everything out] [Suddenly, a beaver bursts out. He takes one look at Boccoli, and bites his already swollen nose] Boccoli: Ouch, ouch, ouch! [A low rumble fills the air. The pipe creaks and shakes. The beaver smirks] [Uh-oh, thinks Boccoli. He starts to climb out. But it's no use. A tidal wave of water blasts out of the pipe. It carries Boccoli down, down, down...] [Water rushes around the tub] Domino: This is like an Indiana Jones movie! [The flume ends just ahead. Mr. Brinway shrieks and hides his face] [Whoosh! The tub launches off the edge. It flies into the air] Sonny: Hit it, Loaf! [Loaf yanks on a cord hanging from a backpack on the shower rod. A pair of shower curtains balloon out just like a parachute] [The tub jerks once. Then it floats slowly down to the lake] Witz: Loaf! You're a genius. [Mr. Brinway lifts his head] Mr. Brinway: I'm saved! I'm saved! [Splash! The tub hits the water] [The Stinkers hear the rush of more water. They turn to the flume. A giant gush is whooshing down––taking Boccoli with it] [Boccoli slips and slides to the end. Then up, up, up he soars. He flips in midair. And down, down, down, he plummets. Thud! He smashes on top of a log in the middle of the lake] [Suddenly, a rope drops around him. It lassos him tight] [Witz's eyes travel to the other end. Roy! Roy has roped Boccoli. Harriet and all the students stand behind him] All: Go, Roy! Slappy: Arf! [The news spread fast. Five children save Slappy the sea lion. Reporters rush to the aquarium for a special award presentation] [The Stinkers smirk down from the stage. Mr. Brinway, Harriet and Roy sit with them] [Mr. Brinway stretches his mouth into a grin. He certainly doesn't feel like grinning. The Stinkers are back in school. Yet...reporters are reporters. They'll write him up in newspapers. Perhaps he can get donations for his music festival] [Slappy slaps the water. He dives into a pool near the edge. People clap and snap pictures] [Tommy, the aquarium worker, steps up to the microphone] Tommy: Slappy is home, and a naughty man is in jail. Why? Because of these brave children. I present the Dartmoor Academy with a Presidential Commendation. Mr. Brinway, would you like to accept the award? [Mr. Brinway jumps to his feet. This will make up for Spencer, Sr. For the Stinkers. For everything. He grins for the camera] Reporter: Mr. Brinway, let's have a picture of you with Slappy! [Then he moves to the pool. Slappy rises up on his back flippers. Slurp! He kisses Mr. Brinway] Mr. Brinway: Yuck! [He pulls back. But he slips in a puddle] Aah! [He splutters to the surface. Click, click, snap the cameras] [The Stinkers laugh. It is the perfect end to the perfect adventure] Category:1998 films Category:1998 direct-to-video films
