Donald Hugh Henley (born July 22, 1947 in Gilmer, Texas) is an American rock musician who is the drummer and one of the lead singers and songwriters of the band The Eagles. He has since had a successful solo career and has played a founding role in several charitable causes. Song lyrics I Can't Stand Still, 1982 Got the bubble-headed bleach blonde who comes on at five She can tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye It's interesting when people die: give us dirty laundry. "Dirty Laundry (Don Henley song) Dirty Laundry" We can do the innuendo, We can dance and sing And when it's said and done We haven't told you a thing,We all know that crap is king, give us dirty laundry. "Dirty Laundry" The End of the Innocence (1989) When happily ever after fails And weve been poisoned by these fairy tales The lawyers dwell on small details Since daddy had to fly But I know a place where we can go Thats still untouched by man Well sit and watch the clouds roll by And the tall grass wave in the wind. You can lay your head back on the ground And let your hair fall all around me. Offer up your best defense But this is the end This is the end of the innocence. "The End of the Innocence" (co-written with Bruce Hornsby) I see you around sometimes and my heart just melts. You're looking like if you had your wish, you'd be somewhere else. And it just breaks my heart to see you here this way. Someday I'll get the nerve to walk up to you and say This is the last worthless evening that you'll have to spend. Just gimme a chance to show you how to love again. "The Last Worthless Evening" (co-written with John Corey and Stan Lynch) I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter But my will gets weak And my thoughts seem to scatter But I think it's about forgiveness Forgiveness Even if, even if you don't love me anymore. "The Heart of the Matter" (co-written with Mike Campbell and J. D. Souther) - The Heart of the Matter (Live at Farm Aid 1990) I've been learning to live without you now But I miss you sometimes The more I know, the less I understand All the things I thought I knew, I'm learning them again. "The Heart of the Matter" I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter Because the flesh will get weak And the ashes will scatter So I'm thinkin' about forgiveness Forgiveness Even if you don't love me anymore.
