Mai Mala Buni CON (born 19 November 1967) is a Nigerian politician who has been serving as the governor of Yobe State since 2019. He was elected as governor during the 2019 Nigeria general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress. Prior to his election as governor, he held the position of national secretary of the All Progressives Congress. Quotes On the issue of staying, there is no way I can spend a month without spending three or four days in Yobe state. And then even if I return to Yobe, I won’t advertise or make it public that today I will be in Yobe and tomorrow I will be leaving. Buni reacts to criticism stating his absence from the state since he took over Wait, Let me land, listen to me, I won’t be revealing to the public that I came to Yobe or when I am leaving. And at this age of technology, when will anybody say that there were bunch of files waiting for me? Even before I came here I don’t know the numbers (of files I treated). Buni reacts to criticism stating his absence from the state since he took over As a country, we must ensure that whatever imperfections exist in our system do not lead to its destruction. We are human beings created to provide solutions. In every society, you have good, bad, and even worse elements, but the worst should not be allowed to define us as a nation. The good should represent who we are. It is unfortunate that some people celebrate the killing of security personnel who risk their lives to protect us. This is unacceptable and demoralising. We paid a courtesy call on the President in continuation of our efforts to rebuild the party. We are here to see Mr. President and brief him on the developments”, he told State House Correspondents after the meeting Thank you very much for the question. You will agree with me that the All Progressives Congress is Nigeria’s ruling and leading political party with the largest membership. I am sure you have also noticed the massive defection of high profile politicians including serving and former governors, serving and former members of the national Assembly, party leaders, prominent political stakeholders and their supporters from other parties into the APC. The defection gives APC additional edge over and above other parties, it is therefore a huge success. However, it is one thing to be successful and another to manage the success efficiently, most especially considering the heavyweights who have had political differences in their states or, those at the national level. As the name implies, the committee is to resolve existing and emerging threats to the party, and to provide proactive solutions to possible threats. This is very important as we approach the 2027 general elections. Again, the new and old members of the party need reassurance that in APC, they are at home, and their membership does not constitute any threat to one another. As it is said, “the season that promises good harvests can be known from its winter”. The import of this maxim is that the fruits of a good harvest starts with early and good preparations. You should not forget, I am the Governor of Yobe state, one of the states in the North East that has suffered a protracted security challenge for quite some time. Yobe is next to Borno state on the scale of the Boko Haram security challenge. So, I am an authority who can speak authoritatively on the impact of the insecurity scourge and the negative consequences of the challenge The Tinubu administration introduced some economic reforms hoping to change Nigeria’s economic landscape but unfortunately, the security challenge is obviously diverting government attention. This is what we at the sub-national levels also suffer. External links Category:Politicians from Nigeria Category:1967 births Category:Living people
