Ariel Wayz (born Uwayezu Arielle, 2000) is a Rwandan singer and songwriter and one of the leading young voices in Rwandan Afrobeats and R&B. She began her career as a backup singer and rose to national fame in 2021 with the hit song "Away", recorded with Juno Kizigenza. She has released two EPs, Love & Lust (2021) and Touch the Sky (2022), and a debut album, Hear to Stay, and she joined Universal Music Group East Africa in 2025.
Born in Rubavu as the fifth of eight children, Wayz began singing at the age of four, and her mother sang in the group Orchestre Ingeri in the 1990s. She won a scholarship to the Nyundo School of Music, where she began studying in 2016. She then became the lead singer of the band Symphony before launching a solo career. She has worked with artists including Bensoul, Saifa and Harmonize, and was nominated for Best Artist – Rwanda at the first Trace Awards & Festival, held in Kigali in 2023. Her debut album, Hear to Stay, a 12-track project, was scheduled for release on 8 March 2025, International Women's Day, to mark four years in music.
