Quotes
I knew it wouldn't be easy and was prepared. Jamaica loves to have something controversial to talk about and deep down most people love it and know that it's just a part of dancehall. So most of the time the attention just makes me happy but sometimes I can get sad about how people interpret it. In that case they have misunderstood me. I'm not a bad person, I'm a good person. But I make music for strong people, for hardcore fans and leaders, not for weak people who can't stand up for themselves or work for themselves, who don't earn their own money and live off others
I have five children, when Kartel first asked me four, and I have my mother in Flankers. I have a big family to support and they are a security. I was not ready to move at first. Now he lives in Kingston and the children come and visit during the weekends when they don't have school or he goes to them. Otherwise they live with their mothers or with his mother
My first song I recorded, “Sparta story”, got a great response. I got goosebumps myself, I couldn’t believe it was me singing, I had no idea I had such talent. I don’t know where I got it from. God probably. Every time I listen to a beat I just try to be another instrument, I work from emotions. Uncle Demon is not my real self. It’s my dancehall character. I’m not a dark person in private and my favorite book is the Bible. Everyone in dancehall has a character and a name for it. If I were a real demon, it’s like saying that Bounty Killer is a real killer, Beenie Man a real doctor, Vybz Kartel a real teacher and Ninja Man a real ninja
Mom always said not to move my lips when I talked, so people wouldn't be able to read my lips. And I don't and it makes me sound different from others. When I sing, it comes from my nose and head, not my stomach and mouth. Jamaica is a dangerous place, you grow up fast and learn to be smart, the fewer people who know what you're saying, the better.
One of dancehall's newest stars and the last of Vybz Kartel's disciples to hit, was recently in Europe for his first tour and Kingsize caught up with him;Retrieved on May 10, 2013
