thumb|alt=Black and white photo of Siegmeister, shirtless, at a typewriter|Siegmeister in 1933 Walter Isidor Siegmeister (1903 – September 10, 1965), also known as Raymond W. Bernard, Robert Raymond, and Uriel Adriana, was an early 20th-century American alternative health advocate and esoteric writer, who formed part of the alternative reality subculture. He is credited with the merger of the Hollow Earth theory and religious beliefs about UFOs. He also founded several fruitarian or vegetarian utopian communes in several countries. Quotes I have come to Ecuador to oversee the creation of a Master Child, the father of a new race, who will restore order in this World of Chaos. This Father of a New Race will be the result of my twenty years of study in the sciences of eugenics, biochemistry and endocrinology. Quoted in J. M. Sheppard, "Hope to Breed Super-Race In Ecuador's Secret Jungles" (May 9, 1943), The Sunday Oregonian It is the purpose of this book to present scientific evidence to prove that the Earth, rather than being a solid sphere with a fiery center of molten metal, as generally supposed, is really hollow, with openings at its poles. Also, in its hollow interior exists an advanced civilization which is the creator of the flying saucers. The Hollow Earth (1963), p. 23 (page numbers from 1991 edition) During various epochs in history, the Aghartan supermen or gods came to the surface to teach the human race and save it from wars, catastrophes and destruction. The coming of the flying saucers soon after the first atomic explosion in Hiroshima represents another such visitation, but this time the gods themselves did not appear among men, but they sent their emissaries. The Hollow Earth (1963), p. 211 [Sexual intercourse has] converted a long-lived, disease-free superhuman race into a short-lived, diseased human race, as recorded in the Book of Genesis. The apple that Eve ate was evidently the act of animal copulation, which was not natural for humans, though natural for animals. This act brought all the misery and suffering to humankind. Woman’s painful childbirth and periodic menstrual hemorrhage are among the consequences not of an original sin but of the continuance of this mistaken practice... Quoted in Subterranean Worlds: 100,000 Years of Dragons, Dwarfs, the Dead, Lost Races and Ufos from Inside the Earth (1989) p. 203 Since the worthy people are now scattered, living in cities, it is impossible for flying saucers to save them until they are first gathered in some distant land with broad open spaces, far from areas of the earth which are contaminated by radioactivity. Quoted in Subterranean Worlds: 100,000 Years of Dragons, Dwarfs, the Dead, Lost Races and Ufos from Inside the Earth (1989) p. 204 Quotes about At forty years of age, Dr. Siegmeister has the skin of a child, a complexion a movie star would envy and the most unusual eyes I've ever seen—brown, extraordinarily large and of such depth and fire that they draw one’s attention inexorably. Yet the manner of the man is one of meekness and solemnity. J. M. Sheppard, "Hope to Breed Super-Race In Ecuador's Secret Jungles" (May 9, 1943), The Sunday Oregonian Perhaps the most famous of all books published on the subject of the hollow Earth is entitled (unsurprisingly) The Hollow Earth and is subtitled (unbelievably) The Greatest Geographical Discovery in History. Its author was yet another colourful and far from trustworthy personality named Walter Siegmeister, although he also went under other names, for reasons that will become clear. Alan Baker, Invisible Eagle (2000), p. 157 If Siegmeister swindled a few people, he seems to have entertained even more. Walter Raymond Siegmeister Bernard was less a con artist than a charm artist. Holly Folk, Handbook of UFO Religions (2021), p. 322 In the book Siegmeister, a political and occult eccentric with many strange ideas (one of them that sexual intercourse destroys one’s physical Hollow Earth and UFOs and moral fiber, another that the male sex is a mutation which should be eliminated) and a checkered career (including trouble with the U.S. Post Office over his promotion of a dubious enterprise in Ecuador), is more of a synthesizer than an innovator.
