Umu Hawa Tejan-Jalloh

Umu Hawa Tejan-Jalloh GCOR (born April 16, 1949 ) is a Sierra Leonean lawyer who was the first female Chief Justice of Sierra Leone from 2008 to 2015. Quotes For those that might find themselves on the bench, always let your conscience be your guide in your dispensation of justice, because at the end of it all, there is nothing as beautiful as a clear conscience. On my appointment as Chief Justice, I realised there were challenges in a male dominated society and judicial system. Those were difficult and trying times in the annals of my career as Judge and for the country as a whole. It is my fervent prayer that there will be no such recurrence. My advice to the younger generation is for them to be diligent in their work no matter where they may find themselves in this noble profession, as there is dignity in labour.
