Slow Learners (released in the UK as Awkward Sexy People) is a 2015 romantic comedy film about two terminally uncool high school co-workers, Jeff and Anne. Tired of being romantically unsuccessful, they embark on a wild, alcohol-fuelled summer to reinvent themselves as confident partygoers, only to lose their dignity and almost each other in the process.
Directed by Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce. Written by Heather Maidat and Peter C. Swords.
Dialogue
(first lines)
Jeff: You look exactly like your profile pic.
Laura: (confused if it's a compliment) Thank you.
Anne: Apparently, I’m clinically abstinent.
Jeff: Clinically abstinent?
Anne: Yeah. It’s a thing and I’ve got it.
Jeff: I’ve never heard anybody diagnosed with that.
Anne: Hi!
Anne: Oh! Principal Miller?
Principal Miller: Oh, shit! You’re not Enrique’s wife.
Anne: (nods her head) No.
(Principal Miller walks awkwardly to her car)
Anne: I’m just gonna… pretend that didn’t happen. Oh, boy!
