Quotes
“It's time to stop looking at Africa as a miserable continent that needs to be helped,”
“This is what I call the 'Good Samaritan complex,' the so-called civilizing mission: no one has ever gone to Africa to civilize the people; Africans need respect, more than help and pity.”
"That place Africa in a subordinate position. Africa is no longer looked at as it is, but as it should be. And we remain perpetually stuck in a comparative perspective , that is, we observe the economic performance of other countries and compare Africa to them. Africa is thus forced into this logic that emphasizes having rather than being, quantity rather than quality, and which forgets that the economy is a means, not an end."
"Mine is an example to show that Africans have a wealth of social engineering to pass on to a world where solitude and isolation are increasingly prevalent. We must rediscover and recover the ability to build community, without believing that this is to the detriment of the value of the individual."
