Quotes
The concept came after I had done some really good things in track and field, but I wasn't getting any recognition.

When you see the story of Superman or Spiderman, they don't look up to any other superhero. They created their own image. That's what I've tried to do.
So he bounces nearly halfway down the track, a combination of Tigger and Errol Flynn as he fights off the purveyors of evil. Suddenly he'll strike a 'Three Musketeers' pose facing the crowd then ramrod straight, clenched fist over heart, head cocked to look straight down the track. 'That's my groove.
Once I get in that groove and feel that, it gives me a feeling of being invincible. That means I'm ready to go. If I ever don't do that, don't even watch my race.' It all came together when one day, he donned the garish-looking green unitard. Suddenly, people were starting to notice Mitchell.
'I came out and people were pointing at me, saying, Man, look at that green uniform.
I felt some of that energy and said to myself, 'I want to keep this.' Thus the Green Machine was born. And now the Green Machine features a sporty little option not seen on most sprinting models -- a very un-aerodynamic eyebrow ring. 'It's the next level of the Green Machine.
I'm a thousand times better than I was in 1994.
Mitchell's 'Green Machine' draws notice, June 21 1996
