thumb|George Weah George Manneh Oppong Weah (born 1 October 1966) is a Liberian politician and former professional footballer who served as the 25th President of Liberia from 2018 to 2024. Prior to his election to the presidency, Weah served as Senator from Montserrado County. Weah represented Liberia at the international level, winning 75 caps, scoring 18 goals for his country, and playing at the African Cup of Nations on two occasions. He also played in a friendly in 2018, where his number 14 jersey was retired. Weah is regarded as one of the best players never to have played at the FIFA World Cup. Quotes I know a lot of people wonder why an ex-footballer should seek the presidency of the country but no one asks a lawyer or a businessman why they do the same. George Weah (2017) cited in: "George Weah: ‘Arsène Wenger showed me love when racism was at its peak’" in The Guardian, 25 December 2017. Quotes about George Weah This is not the first time that the president (George Weah) is identifying with the Muslim community this Holy Month (of Ramadan). He has asked me to call upon the Muslim community, especially the Imams, to use this time to pray. Varney Ali Sirleaf (2022) cited in: "Liberia: President Weah Identifies with Muslims During Ramadan" in Daily Observer, 12 April 2022.
