Quotes The thing about this time is everyone is under pressure to feel like they're being productive and they're not wasting time but I feel like that pressure has become unhealthy for me. I'm just ensuring I channel it in the right way. INTERVIEW: My feeling having number one song in Africa — Ladipoe, 16 May 2020. To me, I will always make music with the person who can take the song to another level. That will never change. I know who I am; I know that type of artist that I am. I am very confident in that and I don't have an identity crisis. PLTFRM: Ladipoe "You walk past the window, you want the shoes, you want the outfit. You go in. They tell you the price. Your body calms down. The difference with music is that nobody tells you the price when you're deciding to pursue it. Here you're not told the price. You go for it, and along the way you discover the cost: the loss of family time, the disassociation from yourself, even your own self, what you give up to create." Ladipoe: The Price Is Never on the Tag If America taught me how to rap, moving back home showed me what I should be rapping about, what I should be talking about in my music. That's where the stories were, the real stories, my stories, a lot of my music is about relatability. It is not always the people that are recognised to be the number one that really are number one. But the thing is that, as an artist, that is not what you should be in it for, you need to be in it to create impact... I disagree that if you're not charting, you're less creative. It's a big lie.
