Captain Hook [to Tinkerbell] Captain Hook gives his word not to lay a finger, or a hook, on Peter Pan. SMEE!!!!!!! Narrator All this has happened before, and it will all happen again. But this time, it happened in London. It happened on a quiet street in Bloomsbury. That corner house over there is the home of the Darling family. And Peter Pan chose this particular house, because there were people here who believed in him. There was Mrs. Darling. Mrs. Darling believed that Peter Pan was the spirit of youth. But Mr. Darling... Well, Mr. Darling was a practical man. The boys, however, John and Michael, believed Peter Pan was a real person, and made him the hero of all their nursery games. Wendy, the eldest, not only believed. She was the supreme authority on Peter Pan and all his marvelous adventures. Nana, the nursemaid, being a dog, kept her opinions to herself, and viewed the whole affair with a certain tolerance. Dialogue Narrator: All this has happened before, and it will all happen again. That corner house over there is the home of the Darling family and Peter Pan chose this particular house because there were people here who believed in him. There was Mrs. Darling. Mary Darling: George, dear, do hurry. We mustn’t be late for the party, you know. Narrator: Mrs. Darling believed that Peter Pan was the spirit of youth but Mr. Darling... George Darling: Mary, unless I find my cuff links we don't go to the party. And if we don’t go to the party I can never show my face in the office again... And if I can never show–[hits the drawer] OW! Narrator: Well, Mr. Darling was a practical man. The boys, however, John and Michael, believed Peter Pan was a real person and made him the hero of all their nursery games. John Darling: [as Captain Hook] Blast you, Peter Pan! Michael Darling: [as Peter Pan] Take that! Give up, Captain Hook? You give up? John Darling: [as Captain Hook] Never! I'll teach you to cut off me hand! Wendy Darling: [coming in; chuckling] Oh, no, John, it was the "left" hand. John: Oh, yes. Thank you, Wendy. Narrator: Wendy, the eldest, not only believed. She was the supreme authority of Peter Pan and all his marvelous adventures. Wendy: Oh, Nana, must we always take that nasty tonic? Narrator: Nana, the nursemaid, being a dog, kept her opinions to herself, and viewed the whole affair with a certain tolerance. George Darling: That's no excuse. Wendy, haven't I warned you? Stuffing the boys' heads with a lot of silly stories. Wendy Darling: Oh, but they aren't. George: I say they are. Captain crook! Peter Pirate! Wendy: Peter Pan, Father. George: Pan! Pirate! Poppycock! Wendy: Oh, no, Father. Father, have you... John Darling: Oh, you don't understand. George: Absolute poppycock! And let me tell you, this ridiculous... Mary Darling: Now, George. George: [mockingly] "Now, George." [turning cross] "Now, George!" Well, "Now, George" will have he say! Mary: Please, dear. George: Mary, the child's growing up. It's high time she had a room of her own! Wendy: Father! Mary: George! John: What? Michael Darling: No! George: I mean it! Young lady, this is your last night in the nursery. And that's my last word on the matter... [George is putting out Nana for the night and he leashes her with a rope to her doghouse. She look at him sadly] George: Dash it all, Nana, don't look at me like that. It's nothing personal. It's just that... Well, you're not really a nurse at all. You're, well, a dog. And the children aren't puppies. They're people. And sooner or later, Nana, people have to grow up. Wendy Darling: But, Mother, I don't want to grow up. Mary Darling: Now, dear, don't worry about it anymore tonight. John Darling: He called Peter Pan "absolute poppycock." Mary Darling: I'm sure he didn't mean it, John. Father was just upset. Michael Darling: [sniffling] Poor Nana, out there all alone. Mary Darling: No more tears, Michael. It's a warm night. She'll be all right. Michael Darling: Mother. Mary Darling: What is it, dear? Michael Darling: Buried treasure. Mary Darling: Now, children. Don't judge your father too harshly. After all, he really loves you very much. [She is about to lock the window] Wendy Darling: Oh, don't lock it, Mother. He might come back. Mary Darling: "He"? Wendy Darling: Yes, uh, Peter Pan. You see, I found something that belongs to him. Mary Darling: Oh, and what's that? Wendy Darling: [yawns] His shadow. Mary Darling: "Shadow"? Wendy Darling: Mmm, Nana had it. But I... I took it away. Mary Darling: Oh? Yes, of course. Good night, dear. Mary Darling: But, George, do you think the children will be safe without Nana? George Darling: Safe? Of course they'll be safe. Why not? Mary Darling: Well, Wendy said something about a shadow, and I... George Darling: Shadow? Whose shadow? Mary Darling: Peter Pan's. George Darling: [realizes] Oh, Peter Pan... PETER PAN?! You don't say. [high, mocking voice] Goodness gracious! Whatever shall we do?! Mary Darling: But, George... George Darling: [normal voice] Sound the alarm! Mary Darling: Really, I... George Darling: Call Scotland Yard! Mary Darling: There must have been someone. George Darling: Oh, Mary, of all the impossible childish fiddle-faddle... Peter Pan, indeed. How can we expect the children grow up and be practical when you’re as bad as they are? Mary Darking: George, dear. George Darling: No wonder Wendy gets these idiotic ideas. [Peter Pan goes down with a bright little dot following him down where they look at Nana tied up in the backyard. The dot of light turns out to be a fairy as it flies close to Peter's face while looking at Nana. Then they continue on to the Nursery Room's window] Wendy Darling: I'm so glad you came back tonight. I might never have seen you. Peter Pan: Why? Wendy: Because I have to grow up tomorrow. Peter Pan: Grow up?! Wendy Darling: Tonight's my last night in the nursery. Peter Pan: But that means no more stories! Wendy Darling: [sniffling] Mm-hmm. Peter Pan: No! I won't have it! Come on! Wendy Darling: Bu-Bu-But where are we going? Peter Pan: To Neverland. [Tink is shocked and checks from the keyhole] Wendy Darling: Neverland! Peter Pan: You'll never grow up there. Wendy Darling: Oh, Peter, it will be so wonderful. But wait! What would Mother say? Peter Pan: Mother? What's Mother? Wendy Darling: Why, Peter, a mother is someone who... who loves and cares for you. And... And tells you stories. Peter Pan: Good! You can be our mother. Come on. Wendy Darling: Now, just a minute, I... Let me see now. I-I have to pack. Oh, and I must leave a note when I'll be back. Of course, I couldn't stay too long. And then I'll have to... Oh, but Neverland. Oh, I... I-I'm so happy I... I think I'll give you a... a kiss. [Tinker Bell is shocked and hurries desperately] Peter Pan: What's a... a kiss? Wendy: Oh, well, uh, I-I'll show you. [But then Tink grabs her hair locks and pulls her away from Peter] Oh! Peter Pan: Stop! Stop it, Tink! [Peter tries to catch Tinker Bell with his hat while bouncing on Michael's bed, causing him to wake up and notice him] Peter Pan: [points at Neverland from afar] There it is, Wendy! The second star to the right and straight on till morning. Captain Hook: Blast that Peter Pan! If I could only find his hideout, I'd trap him in his lair. But where is it? [He examines a map of Neverland] Mermaid Lagoon? No, we've search that. And we've combed Cannibal Cove. [He then lands his hook on an area of the map marked Indian Camp] Here! No. No, no, no! That's Indian terri... But wait. Those redskins know this island better than I do me own ship. Ah... I wonder. Smee: [walking up] Good morning, Captain. Captain Hook: [grabbing Smee] I've got it! Tiger Lily, Smee! Smee: [nervously] T-T-Tiger Lily, Captain? Captain Hook: The chief's daughter. She'll know where Pan is hiding. Smee: B-B-But-But will she talk, Captain? Captain Hook: Oh, a little persuasion might be in order. Now let me see. Boiling in oil? Uh, keelhauling? Eh, marooning? Skylights: Ohh, a pirate's life is a wonderful life You'll find adventure and sport But live every minute for all that is in it The life of a pirate is sho-o-o-o-o-ort! Oh, the li-i-i- [Captain Hook shoots Skylights, by using a fintlock pistol. Mr. Smee watches as Skylights (offscreen) falls to his death into the sea and the water splashes on Mr. Smee] Captain Hook: [blowing the smoke put of the flintlock pistol] Now, let me see, where was I? Smee: Oh, dear, dear, dear, Captain Hook. Shootin’ a man in the middle of his cadenza? That ain't good form, you know. Captain Hook: "Good form," Mr. Smee? Blast good form! [waves his hook in front of Smee] Did Pan show good form when he did this to me?! Smee: Why, Captain, cutting your hand off was only a childish prank, you might say. Captain Hook: Aye! But throwing it to that crocodile! That cursed beast liked the taste of me so well he's followed me ever since, licking his chops for the rest of me. Wendy: Oh, Peter, it's just as I've always dreamed it would be. [notices] Oh, look, John, there's Mermaid Lagoon! John: By Jove! And the Indian encampment! Michael: Oh, look, there's Captain Hook and the pirates. [But then a cannon ball is fired towards them] Peter Pan: Look out! [They all take cover in the clouds as the cannon ball shoots past them] Peter Pan: Quick, Tink, take Wendy and the boys to the island. I'll stay here and draw Hook's fire. [whistling] Hook! Hook! You codfish! Here! [More cannon fire is shot as Peter avoids them. Wendy is flying down but is having a hard time keeping up with Tinker Bell] Wendy: Tinker Bell? [Tinker Bell is flying down fast] Wendy: Not so fast! Please, Tinker Bell! We can't keep up with you! Tinker Bell! Wait! [Then at the Indian Camp we see John, Michael, and the Lost Boys tied an Indian stake while other Indians played their drums] John Darling: I'm frightfully sorry, old chaps. It's all my fault. Cubby: Aw, that's all right, Wildcat. Slightly: Aw, we don't mind. Twin #1: That's okay. Indian Chief: [comes forward] How! Lost Boys: (Cubby) Uh, how! (Slightly) How, chief! Indian Chief: For many moons red man fight paleface Lost Boys. Lost Boys: Ugh? Indian Chief: Sometime you win, sometime we win. Cubby: Okay, Chief. Uh, you win this time. Now turn us loose. John Darling: Turn us loose? You mean this is only a game? Slightly: Sure! When we win, we turn them loose! Twin #1: And when they win, they turn us loose. Twin #2: They turn us loose. Chief: This time no turn 'em loose. Lost Boys: Huh? Slightly: [laughs] The chief's a great spoofer! Chief: Me no spoof 'em! Where you hide Princess Tiger Lily?! Cubby: Uh, Tiger Lily? Slightly: We ain't got your ol' princess! John Darling: I've certainly never seen her. Lost Boys: [agreeing] (Cubby) Me neither. [the twins] Honestly don't. Chief: Heap big lie! If Tiger Lily not back by sunset... Burn 'em at stake! [At Mermaid Lagoon] Wendy Darling: Just imagine, real live mermaids. Peter Pan: Would you like to meet 'em? Wendy Darling: Oh, Peter, I'd love to. Peter Pan: All right, come on. [He goes down fast while playing his panpipes] Red-Haired Mermaid: It's Peter. Mermaids: Oh! Other Yellow-Haired Mermaid: Hello, Peter! Black-Haired Mermaid: Hello, Peter! Yellow-Haired Mermaid: Hello, Peter! Other Red-Haired Mermaid: Hello, Peter! [Dives down and swims to see him, as Peter continues to play his panpipes and lands on rock where three of the mermaids are] Peter Pan: Hello, girls. [Wendy follows down] Other Yellow-Haired Mermaid: I'm so glad to see you. Black-Haired Mermaid: Why did you stay away so long? Other Red-Haired Mermaid: Did you miss me? Red-Haired Mermaid: Tell us one of your adventures. Yellow-Haired Mermaid: Something exciting. Peter Pan: Want to hear about the time I cut off Hook's hand and threw it to the crocodile? Other Red-Haired Mermaid: Oh, I've always liked that one. Black-Haired Mermaid: Me too. Peter Pan: Well, there I was on Marooner's Rock surrounded by 40... Wendy Darling: Oh, Peter! Peter Pan: ...or 50 pirates... Black-Haired Mermaid: Who's she? Peter Pan: Huh? Her? Oh, that's Wendy. Yellow-Haired Mermaid: A girl? Black-Haired Mermaid: What's she doing here? Other Red-Haired Mermaid: And in her nightdress too. [to Wendy] Come on, dearie. Join us for a swim. Wendy Darling: Oh, please, I'm not dressed for it. Red-Haired Mermaid: Oh, but you must! Yellow-Haired Mermaid: We insist! Wendy: No, no, please! Other Red-Haired Mermaid: Too good for us, eh? Wendy: Peter! [Peter and the mermaids laugh on her, but now she's furious and...] If you dare to come near me again... Peter Pan: Wendy! Wendy! They were just having a little fun, weren't you, girls? Yellow-Haired Mermaid: That's all. Other Red-Haired Mermaid: We were only trying to drown her. Peter Pan: Ya see? Wendy Darling: Well, if you think for one minute that I'm going to put up with a... [But, Peter, suddenly, hears something in the distance] Peter Pan: Shh. Hold it, Wendy. [Leaping upon a rock that hung out over the sea he looks down and sees in a core beneath him a boat from the pirate ship] Yep, it's Hook, all right. [At that dread name the mermaids plunge into the lagoon and disappear] Yellow-Haired Mermaid: Hook! Mermaids: Hook! Peter Pan: Quick, Wendy. [He takes Wendy to check it out. He spots Hook, with Mr. Smee. They also notice the person who's tied up] Peter Pan: [whispering] They've captured Tiger Lily. [The Tick-Tock is following Hook and Mr. Smee. He continues following Hook and Mr. Smee in the dingy. Peter flies up to check out where Hook and Mr. Smee are heading] Peter Pan: Looks like they're headin' for Skull Rock. Come on, Wendy. Let's see what they're up to. [She flies up while getting help from Peter and follow the villains] Smee: Well, at last, Captain Hook's comin' to his senses. Captain Hook: [surprised] Odd's fish! Smee: [to Tiger Lily] I told him all along you Indians wouldn't betray Peter Pan. Captain Hook: [kindly] And just what do you think you are doing, Mr. Smee? [he stops the rowboat from moving by placing his foot on it] Smee: Just what you told me, Captain: carrying out your orders. Captain Hook: My orders? Smee: Why, yes, Captain. Didn't you just say to go... Captain Hook: [shoves the boat back into Skull Rock] Put her back, you blithering idiot! [to himself] My orders. Of all the bumbling... Peter Pan: [impersonates Hook] Mr. Smee! Just exactly what do you think you are doing? Smee: Putting her back like you said, Captain. Peter Pan: I said nothing of the sort! Smee: [stammers] But captain...! Peter Pan: [whilst the real Hook creeps up to him unbeknownst] For the last time, Mr. Smee, take the princess back to her people! UNDERSTAND!? [echoes] Smee: Aye-aye, sir. Peter Pan: Oh, and one more thing: When you return to the ship, tell the whole crew to help themselves to me best rum. Peter Pan: Well, well. A codfish on a hook. Captain Hook: I'll get you for this, Pan! If it's the last thing I do! Peter Pan: [hearing the ticking] I say, Captain, do you hear something? Captain Hook: No. [ticking gets closer] No! [Tick-Tock comes up from the water and bites Hook] NOOO!! Peter Pan: [to Tick-Tock] Mr. Crocodile, do you like codfish? [Tick-Tock nods] You do? Wendy Darling: Oh, Peter, no! Indian Chief: How! Peter Pan: How! Wendy Darling: What's the chief doing, John? John Darling: He's delivering an oration in sign language. Michael Darling: What's he saying? John: He says... "Peter Pan, mighty warrior. Save Tiger Lily. Make big chief heap glad." Wendy Darling: [jokingly] Well, he certainly doesn't look "heap glad." Chief: Make Peter Pan heap big chief. You now Little Flying Eagle. Peter Pan: [whooping as an Indian] Lost Boys: (Cubby) Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! (Slightly and Nibs) Yay! (Twin #1) Flying Eagle! (Twin #2) Flying Eagle! John: Bravo! Wendy Darling: Oh, how wonderful! Michael: Hooray! [Peter flies back down and sits with the chief and Tiger Lily as they cross their legs and the Lost Boys follow along. Tiger Lily gives her father his long tobacco as he smokes] Chief: Teach 'em paleface brother all about red man. John Darling: Good, this should be most enlightening. Cubby: Uh, what makes the red man red? Twin #1 When did he first say, "Ugh"? Twin #2: First say, "Ugh"? Michael: Why does he ask you, "How"? Chief: Why does he ask you, "How"? [Wendy has persuaded her brothers that it is time to go home. Unfortunately, as they emerge from their hideout, they are seized by the pirates] Captain Hook: All right, men. Take them away. [about to lower a bomb into Peter Pan's hideout] And now, Smee, to take care of Master Peter Pan. Smee: But, Captain, wouldn't it be more humane-like to slit his throat? Captain Hook: Aye, that it would, Mr. Smee. But I have given his word not to lay a finger... or a hook on Peter Pan. And Captain Hook never breaks a promise. Captain Hook: Could he but see within the package? Ho-ho! He would find an ingenious little device. Smee: Set, so that when the clock is like this... Captain Hook: Peter Pan... will be BLASTED out of Neverland... forever. Wendy Darling: No... [as the pirates laugh while Tinker Bell, who has been listening every word, tries to escape from the lantern and helps Peter] Captain Hook: But time grows short. We have but... 18 seconds. 15 seconds. 13 seconds. Peter Pan: Twelve seconds. Well, I guess I can open it now. [Tink arrives in the very last second] Hey, Tink. Look what Wendy left. [Tink about to pull the ribbon in the package but he stop him] Hey, stop that! Stop it! What's the matter with you? Hook? A bomb? Don't be ridiculous. [when the alarm rings, Peter Pan looks alarmed as Tink takes out the package and suddenly... it explodes! Cut to outside at Hook's ship, Wendy, John, Michael and the lost boys look horror and disbelief, believing Peter Pan is dead] Captain Hook: And so passeth... a worthy opponent. Smee: Amen. [cut to Peter Pan survives the explosion, now ruined Hangman’s Tree] Peter Pan: Hook... It was a bomb... Why, if it hadn’t been for Tink... [realizes Tinker Bell survived the bomb] Tinker Bell! Tink?! Tinker Bell?! [as Tinker Bell tinkles faintly] Where are you, Tink?! Tink?! Tinker Bell! [as she tinkles more faintly, he discovers to find Tinker Bell from the rubble, while debris fall in the process. As he can see her light...] Tink? Are you all right? Wendy? The boys? [Once again as the debris fall in the process. Then he crawling, about to save Tinker Bell from the debris] But I've gotta save you first! Hold on, Tink! Hold on! Don't go out. Don't you understand, Tink? You mean more to me than anything in this whole world! Captain Hook: And now, which will it be? The pen or the plank? Wendy: Captain Hook, we will never join your crew. Captain Hook: As you wish. Ladies first, me dear. Wendy Darling: Goodbye, boys. Boys: Goodbye, Wendy. Wendy Darling: Be brave, John. John Darling: I shall strive to, Wendy. Wendy: Goodbye, Michael. Michael Darling: Goodbye. Turk: [seizes Wendy] Come on! [pushes Michael away] Get along over there! [Michael bumps to John and the Lost Boys and gets tied up] Pirate: Get going! Don't give us no trouble! [the pirates get the tied up Wendy on the plank] Go on! Go on! Get it over with! Pirate #2: Move along! Pirate #3: The captain's waitin'! [Drum roll is played as Wendy walks the plank while shedding the tear but stands brave before walking close to the end of the plank] Michael Darling: Wendy! Wendy! [Wendy falls of the plank as Hook hears with an evil smile till to his shock, no splash is heard as he looks confused] Smee: Captain, n-no splash. Captain Hook: Not a sound. Mullins: Not a bloomin' ripple. Pirate: It's a jinx, that's what it is. [Unknown to them, Wendy is saved by Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, alive and well] Pirate #2: No splash. Pirate #3: No sign of the wench. Pirate #4: Did you hear a splash? Pirate: I'm telling you, mates. It's a black day. Pirate #2: Mark me words. We'll all pay for this. [Peter sets Wendy down on the main mast] Bill Jukes: [whispers to Starkey] The ship is bewitched. Mr. Starkey: No splash, Captain. Captain Hook: So, you want a splash, Mr. Starkey? I'll give you a splash! [throws Starkey overboard] Who's next?! Peter Pan: You're next, Hook! This time you've gone too far! Lost Boys: It's Pan! Peter Pan! Michael: And Wendy! Captain Hook: It can't be! Smee: It's his blinkin' ghost what's talkin'! Peter Pan: Say your prayers, Hook! Captain Hook: I'll show you this ghost has blood in his veins. [Peter flies down] I'll run him through! [but misses as he gets behind him and pokes him as he gasps] Take that! [Peter sword fights against Hook. He tries to slash him but ends up hitting the mast and continues to face him till he tries to get him with his hook, only to stab it to the mast and gets stuck] Curse this hook! Peter Pan: [frees the boys] Come on, everybody! Captain Hook: Fly! Fly! Fly! You coward! Peter Pan: Coward?! Me? Captain Hook: Ha-ha-ha! You wouldn't dare fight old Hook man-to-man. You'd fly away like a cowardly sparrow! Peter Pan: Nobody calls Pan a coward and lives! I'll fight you man-to-man, with one hand behind my back. Captain Hook: You mean you won't fly? Wendy Darling: No, don't, Peter! It's a trick! Peter Pan: I give my word, Hook. Captain Hook: Good! Then let's have at it! Captain Hook: You wouldn't do old Hook in now, would you, lad? I'll go away forever. [cries] I'll do anything you say! Peter Pan: Well, all right. If ya... Say you're a codfish. Captain Hook: [gulps] I'm a codfish. Peter Pan: [nearly pokes Hook with his own sword] Louder! Captain Hook: [wailing] I'M A CODFISH!!!! Wendy Darling, John Darling, Michael Darling, and the Lost Boys: HOORAY! [all sing] Hook is a codfish! A codfish. A codfish. Hook is a codfish! A codfish. A codfish. [Tick-Tock is waiting below happily splashing his arms rhythmically in the water] Peter Pan: All right, Hook. You're free to go. And never return! [Throws Hook's sword away and crows like a rooster] Wendy: [Sees Hook ready to ambush Peter, gasping in horror] Peter! [Hook tries to kill Peter in the back but he loses his balance and falls to the water, where Tick-Tock is waiting for him patiently. Hook tries to stop himself but ends up falling into Tick-Tock's mouth as it goes down. The flag floates down on the water then Hook came out under it and runs panicking] Captain Hook: SMEE!!!! SMEE!!!! [But ends up running back into Tick-Tock's mouth and he runs in its body till he reaches the end and runs out of its mouth. But then he notices the alarm clock that Tick-Tock swallowed a long time ago and tosses it back away into Tick-Tock's mouth as his head rings. Hook swims for his life in fear, while Tick-Tock swallows the clock back in and purses with his mouth open] Captain Hook: SMEE!!!! [avoids one bite, then uses his feet to stop Tick-Tock from biting and shouts] SMEE!!!! [continues swimming in panic] SMEE!!!!!!! [Tick-Tock begins to shut its mouth and shoots Hook out like a slingshot] Captain Hook: SMEE-EE-EE-EE-EE-EE-EE-EE!!!! [Captain Hook gets shot away and is skipping under the water while passing Smee and the crew, rowing the dingy as he passes under them, with Tick-Tock still swimming after him] Smee: Captain! [They all head out to the open sea to pursue Hook as Tick-Tock still chases him] Smee: Captain! Captain! [They vanish out of sight] All: Hooray! Hooray for Captain Pan! Peter Pan: [turns his attention to the Lost Boys] All right, ya swabs, aloft with ya! We're castin' off! Heave those halyards! Wendy Darling: But, but, Peter... Oh, that is, Captain Pan. Peter Pan: At your service, madam. Wendy: Could you tell me, sir, where we're sailing? Peter Pan: To London, madam. Wendy Darling: Oh, Peter. Michael! John! We're going home! Peter Pan Man the capstan! Hoist anchor! [The Lost Boys man the capstan and begin to hoist up the anchor] Peter Pan: Pixie dust! [Tinker Bell gives a salute and flies around the ship spreading the pixie dust on the ship causing it to sparkle gold and it begins to fly. The ship makes its way to the sky as we see Neverland getting farther away before vanishing. Then we see the moon for a few seconds before we see the clock tower Big Ben tolling. The scene changes to the Darling house with the clock chiming 11 p.m. Nana is barking happily now that she is brought back into the house by Mr. Darling] Mary Darling: George, I'm so glad you changed your mind about Wendy. After all, she's still a child. George Darling: [yawns] Oh, pshaw, Mary. You know I never mean those things. Do I, Nana? [Mary opens the nursery room and looks in and gasps] Mary Darling: Oh! [finds Wendy's bed empty] Wendy! [Then she finds Wendy sleeping at the window] Wendy, what on earth are you doing there? Wendy Darling: [yawns] Mmm. Hmm? Oh, Mother, we're back! George Darling: Back? Wendy Darling: All except the Lost Boys. They weren't quite ready. George Darling: Lost Bo... Ready? Wendy Darling: To grow up. That's why they went back to Neverland. George Darling: Neverland? Wendy Darling: Yes, but I am. George Darling: Uh, "am"? Wendy Darling: Ready to grow up. George Darling: Oh! Oh! Uh... Well, my dear, all in good time. After all, perhaps we were too... Wendy Darling: Oh, but, Mother, it was such a wonderful adventure. Tinker Bell and the mermaids and Peter Pan. Oh, he was the most wonderful of all. Why, why, even when we were kidnapped, I... George Darling: Kidnapped! Wendy Darling: Mm-hmm. I knew Peter Pan would save us, and he did. And we all called him a codfish! [laughing] Uh, Captain Hook, I mean. And then we sailed away on a ship in the sky. George Darling: Hmm. Mary, I'm going to bed. [She spots a cloud in the shape of Hook's ship flying in the sky] Wendy Darling: Oh, Mother. He really is wonderful, isn't he? See how well he sails the ship. Mary Darling: [notices the cloud formation with surprise] George. George! George Darling: Now what, Mary? [But then he stammers with shock. He spots the cloud in the shape of Hook's ship flying in the sky] Nana, d-did you see... Nana: [barks] George Darling: You know, I have the strangest feeling… that I've seen that ship before. A long time ago, when I was very young. Mary Darling: George, dear! Wendy Darling: Father! [Wendy, her parents and Nana look up with smiles to the cloud in the shape of Hook's ship] Chorus: When there's a smile in your heart There's no better time to start Think of all the joy you'll find When you leave the world behind And bid your cares goodbye You can fly You can fly You can fly [Song ends] Taglines It will live in your heart forever! About Peter Pan (1953 film) I had a particularly bad time getting started on Captain Hook. It was one of the low points of my life. These are the first scenes of him where he's walking, pacing the deck, saying, 'That Peter Pan! If I get my hook on him!,' or whatever. He was neither menacing nor foppish. This was because of the confusion in the minds of the director and story people. In story, Ed Penner had always seen Hook as a very foppish, not strong, dandy-type of guy, who loved all the finery. Gerry Geronimi, who was the director, saw him as an Ernest Torrence, a mean, heavy sort of character who used his hook menacingly. Well, Walt could see something in both approaches, and I think he delighted in thinking, 'I wonder what the hell Thomas is going to do when he gets this.' If Walt would ever say, 'Aw, I don't know,' fifty people would jump up thinking, 'Here's my chance to impress Walt.' They'd say, 'I think his head's too big. I think his feet are too small. I think he's too this. I think he's too that,' hoping Walt would say, 'Yeah, I think you're right.' This time Walt came to my aid, fortunately. He said, 'Well, that last scene has something I like. I think you're beginning to get him. I think we better wait and let Frank go on a little further.'
