Quotes
Art, to me, is more than just the final outcome. It’s an entire creative process that’s extremely personal. From the moment the work is conceptualized, to the point when it’s completed, the whole experience—including the environment in which it takes place—is as much a part of the work as the finished result. My goal, therefore, is to encapsulate the true intimacy of art as an experiential journey where the artist’s studio plays an integral role. In this exhibit, I open the doors of my studio and invite viewers into my inner sanctum both figuratively because the pieces are confessional tapestries of my soul, and literally because the venue is my own private studio where my restless imagination runs wild and free.

The problem with the cats is they poop everywhere, so my mom’s trying to convince me to lessen them. But they’re so sweet, and when I’m painting, all the cats are here and I love it. If I weren’t an artist I’d probably be someone who works with animals, like a vet or a zookeeper
Into the inner sanctum of Maxine Syjuco The Philippine Star
In my current state of isolation from the world, I contemplate the manner by which things continue to spill around us, with or without provocation. I’ve been struggling with the pangs of deep grief and loss over matters too delicate for words. There’s a certain type of madness that seduces me in incessant voices begging to be fleshed out. My art is inspired by an obsessive compulsion to go beyond the flesh: to dissect the intangibilities of what lies within us at the very core. Through this exhibit, I surrender to the inevitability of ‘accidents,’ and seek to capture that elusive light in the darkness, however momentary or fleeting.
