thumb|Saint Gregory of Narek Gregory of Narek; 950 – 1003/1011) was an Armenian mystical and lyrical poet, monk, and theologian. He is venerated as a saint in the Armenian Apostolic and Catholic Churches and was declared a Doctors of the Church by Pope Francis in 2015. Quotes Behold, I beseech Thee, Holy Mother of God, Angel and daughter of men, Cherub appearing in bodily form, Heavenly Sovereign, sincere as the air, pure as the light, without blemish, rising like the morning star, holier than the inviolable abode of the Temple, place of blessed promises, Eden endowed with the divine breath, tree of eternal life, guarded by a fiery sword! The sublime power of the Father has overshadowed Thee, and the Holy Spirit, resting in Thee, has adorned Thee with his holiness; the Son, making His dwelling in Thee, has prepared Thee as a tabernacle; the Only Begotten of the Father is your Firstborn, your Son by birth, your Lord, for He created You. Nothing stains Your purity, nothing stains Your goodness; You are the holy, immaculate one, whose intercession protects us. From the book Libro della lamentazione, oration 80. Quotes in Simone Baroncia, Gregorio di Narek: un ponte tra Oriente ed Occidente, korazym.org, 6 April 2018. [The angels] are good, they are your debtors, o Benefactor! Evil has not touched them: they were created by your august will, you, Supreme Being; they are mighty armies, by the grace of your providence, you, Most High; they are holy, pure and without blemish, full of blessing, all shining, victorious and invincible, as swift as a flash of genius [...] They are, o celestial God, your free and noble messengers, who radiate the shining light from your cloud. From Le livre des prières, sc 78, Parigi, 1961, p. 81; quoted in Renzo Lavatori, Gli angeli, Newton & Compton, Roma, 1996, p. 49. ISBN 88-8183-511-8.
