Battle of Sambisa Forest (2021)

The Battle of Sambisa Forest began in May 2021, the Islamic State's West Africa Province (ISWAP) launched an invasion of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, Nigeria, which was serving as the main base of Boko Haram, a rival jihadist rebel group. Following heavy fighting, ISWAP overran the Boko Haram troops, cornering their leader Abubakar Shekau. Quotes ISWAP, a splinter group of Boko Haram, has grown in power and influence since the terrorists commenced operating from their territorial bases of Lake Chad region. ISWAP now occupies some parts of the forest following the latest development on terrorism in the North East. This incident has once again exposed the disorganised and disoriented nature of these criminals. External links Category:2020s in Nigeria Category:Conflicts
