Franco John Mostert (born 27 November 1990) is a South African professional rugby union player who currently plays for Honda Heat and the South Africa national team. His usual position is lock, but he has often played as a flanker. He was one of the members of the winning Springboks in the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan as well as the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France. Quotes It’s so safe here, it’s better for the family and takes a lot of stress off you so I just think you can just enjoy it more what you’re doing I think it takes a lot off your mind and allows you to concentrate on the team and concentrate on what you want to do at work and that will definitely make you a better rugby player. All the Gloucester management, the boys, the team, they’re just positive and help me a lot and I can just play at the best of my ability When I decided to come here I watched a bit of the Premiership and I was eager to play here It was always a dream and hopefully we can win it, that’s the bigger dream, but we must take it game by game. Just this morning we had a chat and I asked the boys, when did Gloucester last play in the final? They all laughed and said it’s a bit long. Hopefully we can make it a big year but like I said you have to take it one by one. Otherwise if your head goes further out then you won’t make it. It’s never nice to be in the middle of that but I think you’re in a good position if two teams fight about you Not a lot of guys are in that position but I’m really privileged to be in that position. We’re used to it, I think a couple of guys at Gloucester think he want to put on a stamp but we know him and he’s a great coach, and I think everyone just follows him. In South Africa it’s not raining so much so you can play more running rugby. It’s a bit slower but it’s definitely a bit harder because it’s cold, it’s wet, so you have to keep the ball tight. In the beginning it was a bit challenging because I’m not used to calling in English also but I got used to it, the boys are busy to understand my accent so it’s going well so far. We’re very happy with the win and I think I’m busy settling in so I’m just playing to the best of my ability They just keep doing the right things but hopefully we can give a great show. Franco Mostert interview: Why he joined Gloucester Rugby, his big dream, adapting to life in England and being in middle of a tug-of-war, Feb 2019, Gloucestershire live ,Robert Iles We can definitely improve our discipline, it let us down. But we have done our reviews, tomorrow is a new day and we will look to improve on our set-pieces, If you give away stupid penalties, teams will capitalise on that. It builds up. Rugby is a funny game, you can be at your best and still lose. It is just about the bounce of the ball.
