Quotes If you meet three Wikipedia editors, you’d feel better about the long-standing stamina of Wikipedia, like, if you see all these editors, you’re just like, Oh, these are the people who are trying to make sure that Wikipedia is going to remain not just intact, but that we’re going to keep telling this evolving story of the internet.  Wikipedia’s Reluctant Resisters March, 2025 On Wikipedia's Integrity The whole rest of the internet has been through ‘enshittification’—and everything else is under paywalls, or it’s under advertising of some sort, and Wikipedia is the last bastion of the old internet. Wikipedia’s Reluctant Resisters March, 2025 On Wikipedia's place in the enshittified web My name is Molly Stark Dean. My username is Molly Stark Dean. My Discord name on WikiNYC Discord is Molly Stark Dean. So I'm WikiFamous because I yell my name at Wikipedia events. I'm mostly involved in organizing Wikipedia events. And how I got involved with Wikipedia is I was at an online news association event and I was talking about the hiring practices at the New York Times and someone approached me saying that they were looking for board members of Women Do News, which is an organization that writes Wikipedia articles about women in journalism. And so that's how I got involved in Wikipedia in general. I got involved in organizing was because myself and another Women Do News person went to Wikicon North America in Toronto and there was a bomb threat in Toronto. I saw Richard, who's the president of WikiNYC, run around and do all this organizing. And I saw him with a bunch of other volunteers, like Andrew and all these other volunteers, really focusing on the event. And I didn't realize that these big events were done with such a few people. That's the scale of Wikipedia and the amount of people who actually edit so I'm always trying to advocate for editing over everything, like yes, please give you us your money, but also give us your time, and your editing, and your expertise in any corner of Wikipedia, and my corner of Wikipedia has just been organizing.
