Quotes
From the time of President Franklin D. Roosevelt of the USA in 1939 to date, presidential libraries have become the reference point for veritable information not only about the activities of presidents while in office, but also as custodians of the rich history of the people, and not just the White House and its occupants.
The initiative of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to follow suit is most commendable. As the first of its type in the whole of Africa, it will, no doubt, spur on other retired and retiring African heads of states to do likewise. Not only that, I suspect that, with the rich collection of books, documents, artifacts, etc, the OOPL complex will very soon become the first place to visit to learn about the complexities of leadership by an African through the well assembled documentation of the man OBJ.
I make bold to say that OBJ is probably the most erudite head of state that Nigeria has ever had. He is equally likely to be the most studied one. In this regard, any documentation about him, which may not readily be in his collections will certainly be useful in shedding more light on the man and hence, on Nigeria, Africa and the world. It is in this spirit that I consider it worthwhile to add some of my less academic publications to his already existing rich collections. The publications are grouped into two: those that are simply meant to add to knowledge without reference to Obasanjo in any form and those in which references to him abound.
