Georgy Girl (1966) is a song by the Australian pop/folk music group The Seekers. It was used as the title song for the 1966 film of the same title. Tom Springfield, who had written "I'll Never Find Another You", composed the music and Jim Dale supplied the lyrics. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song but the prize went to "Born Free". The song became a hit in late 1966 and early 1967, reaching number one in Australia and number three in the United Kingdom. In the United States, it was the Seekers' highest charting single, reaching number one on the Cash Box Top 100. Lyrics thumb|Hey there, Georgy girl - There's another Georgy deep inside. Bring out all the love you hide - And, oh, what a change there'd be Hey there, Georgy girlSwingin' down the street so fancy-freeNobody you meet could ever seeThe loneliness thereInside you. Hey there, Georgy girlThere's another Georgy deep insideBring out all the love you hideAnd, oh, what a change there'd beThe world would seeA new Georgy girl. Hey there, Georgy girlDreamin' of the someone you could beLife is a realityYou can't always run away.Don't be so scared of changingAnd rearranging yourselfIt's time for jumping down from the shelfA little bit.
