COVID-19 pandemic in Tanzania was a part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed to have reached Tanzania in March 2020. Quotes This situation remains very concerning. I renew my call for Tanzania to start reporting COVID-19 cases and share data. COVID-19 is a serious disease that can cause severe illness and even death. We particularly encourage the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to prepare for the vaccine, to put in place the preventive measures to protect their population, and to share data on the COVID-19 situation with WHO and neighboring countries. I also call on Tanzania to implement the public health measures that we know work in breaking the chains of transmission, and to prepare for vaccination.
