Quotes about
She could have been a mediocre or even a terrible Christian, embittered by suffering and provoked to rebellion. Instead, she was a Saint.
Agostino Trapè, quoted in Antonio Maria Sicari, Il grande libro dei ritratti di santi, Jaca Book, Milano, 2006, p. 127. ISBN 88-16-30324-7.
In Rita they certainly seek the «saint of the impossible», but in the sense that she who has known and loved so much can do everything: the devotees seek the girl who desires God, the woman with the difficult marriage, the bride violently deprived of her husband, the mother who no longer knows what to do to save her children, the widow capable of forgiveness and goodness, the consecrated woman who stands beside the Cross to receive and distribute that grace and salvation.
In the history of our people, Rita is the younger sister of two great saints of Umbria: the great patriarch Saint Benedict of Nursia (located a few kilometers from Cascia) and Saint Francis of Assisi. She, however, is, perhaps, the most beloved of the people.
Antonio Sicari, quoted in Il grande libro dei ritratti di santi, Jaca Book, Milano, 2006, p. 139. ISBN 88-16-30324-7 (in Italian).
The precious pearl of Umbria.
Pope Leo XIII, quoted in Il grande libro dei ritratti di santi, Jaca Book, Milano, 2006, p. 139. ISBN 88-16-30324-7 (in Italian).
