Predator: Badlands is a 2025 American-Australian-New Zealand-Canadian-German science-fiction action monster film about Dek, a young Predator outcast from his Yautja clan finds an unlikely friendship with Thia, a half-destroyed android on his journey in search of his adversaries. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, co-screenplay written with Patrick Aison based on characters created by Jim Thomas and John Thomas. First hunt. Last chance. (taglines) Dek I am prey to none! Thia: On Earth... there's a predator known as the wolf. It's a powerful creature. They hunt in packs. They're very loyal. The leader of the pack is the alpha, known as the most dominant. Dek: Wolf. This alpha must be a great killer. I will hunt it too. Thia: No. The alpha isn't the wolf who kills the most. The alpha is actually the one who best protects the pack. Dek: I see... The alpha is actually the one who best protects the pack. But, I will be the the alpha that kills the most. Drone Synth: What is the device? Thia: [To Dek] He's asking about the device. Dek: It's a children's toy. But says it's a map. Drone Synth: What did it say? Thia: He says its a map. Drone Synth: How does it work? Dek: Tell tool to look inside. [The device explodes and blows up the Drone Synth] Thia: That was a children's toy? Dek: Yautja children! Dek: You kept this toy? Kwei: You remembered what happened... Dek: I lost my fang! Kwei: And you saved my life. You protected me. Dek: The sun rises. Let's go. Thia: We can't leave Bud. Dek: Bud? Thia: Yeah. Bud. I named her. Dek: Yautja hunt alone. Thia: You're not alone. I'm with you. Dek: You're a tool. Thia: The tree would have eaten us without her. Dek: We're not in the tree now. Thia: How about a lift? Let's go. [Dek lifts her easily, his hand brushing against the exposed robotic components beneath her damaged outer skin] Excuse me, sir. Dek: What happened to your legs? Thia: I'm synthetic. I was built and deployed by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation for research. Because their humans wouldn't last a day on this planet. [Bud spits at Dek marking him] Thia: I think she's marking you. She wants you to be part of her clan. Maybe she's lost. Dek: I have no clan! Thia: What do you mean? Don't all Yautja have family? Dek: No clan! Thia: So you never had anyone looking out for you? Dek: I had a brother. Thia: What happened to him? Dek: Father killed him. Thia: You're grieving. Dek: Grief is weakness. Thia: You're here because you lost your brother. Dek: I am here for Kalisk. Why are you here? Thia: I'm here because traveling with you is the best way to get back to Tessa. When I was in that vulture's next, I was so afraid I would never see her again. Dek: What is this creature? Thia: Bone bison. They're Kalisk food. Dek: Then it will be my food, too. Thia: So exciting. Hunting with the Yautja? Tessa wouldn't believe it. Dek: I'm still alive, brother. Kwei: Still much to prove to show who you are. Dek: I am Yautja. Kwei: Not yet. Dek: Are you holding your sword, Kwei? Kwei: No. Dek: Pick it up! Kwei: Genna. The death planet. Home of the un-killable Kalisk. Even father fears it. Dek: Then the Kalisk shall be my trophy. Father calls me the weakest... so I must kill the strongest. Kwei: Failure means death. Dek: Then I will not fail. Kwei: I cannot allow it. Dek: I make my vow. I make my vow! Thia: I could help you, but... I need a hand. Dek: Yautja hunt alone. [The Kalisk attacks the Super Power Loader] Tessa: Betrayed by my own sister. Thia: We're not sisters. Thia: Look. Many Yautja have come for the great Kalisk, and none have survived it or Genna. I've seen the Kalisk. I survived it. Here's my proposal: You take me along with you, and I'll guide you to its den. Once there, I get my legs, you get your trophy, and everyone's a winner. Deal? Dek: You have seen the Kalisk? Thia: Oh, yeah. I've seen the Kalisk? [Waits for Dek to respond, her confidence slowly draining as the silence stretches, shifts awkwardly, glancing toward the horizon] Okay. Hmm. Good luck with your journey. I'm just gonna... go on my journey. I'm sure you'll figure something out. Muthur: Hello, Tessa. The Company is not pleased. Continued failure will result in your decommission. Tessa: Where's Thia? Muthur: The Yautja has Thia. Thia: It's so beautiful. After all the time I've been stuck here, I never get tired of the view. Dek: How long have you been here? Thia: Well, we arrived on Genna two years ago, and we built a base. Then, I was in the vulture's nest for the most exciting 13 days, seven hours, 43 minutes and two seconds of my life. But I always knew someone would come. I was just wrong about who. Dek: Who would come? Thia: Tessa. Our crew is made entirely of synths. But Tessa and I are special. We have a higher sensitivity than the others. Dek: Sensitivity is weakness. Thia: Sensitivity is what allows us to understand the creatures on this planet. We were created to work in tandem. Me, cooped up in the lab, Tessa out in the field. Until the wonderful day Tessa let me come with her. We were exploring Genna. And the Kalisk attacked us. Separated me... and us. The last sound I remember hearing was Tessa calling out my name. Reaching for me. Then the Kalisk. I didn't know what to do. But I refuse to believe she's dead. Dek: Name is Dek. Now talk that way.
