Three Colors: Blue (French: Trois Couleurs: Bleu) is a 1993 French film, set in Paris, about a woman whose husband and child are killed in a car accident. Suddenly set free from her familial bonds, she attempts to cut herself off from everything and live in isolation from her former ties, but finds that she cannot free herself from human connections. Blue is the first in the Three Colors trilogy, themed on the French Revolutionary ideals; it is followed by White and Red. Directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski. Written by Krzysztof Piesiewicz and Krzysztof Kieślowski. Julie Vignon I appreciate what you did for me. But you see, I'm like any other woman. I sweat. I cough. I've cavities. You won't miss me. I'm sure you realize that now. Shut the door when you leave. Now I have only one thing left to do: nothing. I don't want any belongings, any memories. No friends, no love. Those are all traps. They took everything away. Only the mattress is left. Madame Vignon I'm just fine. I have everything here. I have the TV. You can see the whole world. Do you want to tell me something about your husband or your home? Or your children? Or maybe yourself? Other La copiste: That music is so beautiful. One can't destroy things like that. Dialogue Julie Vignon: Why are you crying? Servant: Because you're not. Julie Vignon: Don't you wear underwear? Lucille: Never. Olivier: I looked all over for you. Julie Vignon: And? Olivier: I found you. Julie Vignon: Did you do what I asked? Le Jardinier: Yes. Julie Vignon: You emptied out the blue room? Madame Vignon: They told me you died. You seem fine. Young, so young. You were always younger, but now you look 30. When we were kids... Julie Vignon: I'm not your sister. I'm your daughter.
