Child's Play is a 1988 horror film about a single mother who gives her son a much sought-after doll for his birthday, only to discover that it is possessed by the soul of a serial killer. Directed by Tom Holland. Written by Don Mancini. Andy Barclay has a new playmate who's in no mood to play. (taglines) Andy Barclay [first lines] I saw this one. His real name is Charles Lee Ray, and he's been sent down from heaven by daddy to play with me. Look, you stay here; I have to go tinkle. This is the end, friend. Chucky (Charles Lee Ray) I'M GONNA GET YOU FOR IT! I'M GONNA GET YOU, AND I'M GONNA GET EDDIE!!! NO MATTER WHAT! I gotta find somebody, I gotta find somebody! [repeated line] Hi, I'm Chucky. Wanna play? [while attacking Mike] Goodnight, asshole! Sure, how'd ya want it? Broken leg? [Laughs] I don't believe it! I just don't believe it! The first person I let in on my little secret was a 6-year-old kid! I'm gonna be 6 years old again! Kill them! Strangle them! Don't let go! Kill them! Kill them! Kill them all! Won't do you any good, Mikey, you can't hurt me! Dialogue Karen Barclay: Talk to me. Come on, talk! I said, "talk to me", damn it! All right, I'll make you talk. [Karen looks at the fireplace] Karen Barclay: I said talk to me, damn it, or else I'm gonna throw you in the fire! Chucky: [comes alive] YOU STUPID BITCH! YOU FILTHY SLUT! [Karen screams in terror] I'LL TEACH YOU TO FUCK WITH ME! Karen Barclay: Detective Norris! Mike Norris: Mrs. Barclay, what are you doing back here? Karen Barclay: Andy was telling the truth. Chucky is alive, and he killed Eddie Caputo. Mike Norris: What? Karen Barclay: I took him home to my apartment, and I was about to throw away the box he came in when the batteries fell out. Don't you see? He's been moving and talking for days without any batteries in him! Mike Norris: What are you talking about? Karen Barclay: How I found out that the doll was alive. You see, I threatened to throw him in the fireplace, when all of sudden, he came alive in my hands, I… I… I dropped him, and he got up and ran out of the apartment![Chucky goes to visit John Bishop, a.k.a. Dr. Death]Chucky: Hello, John. Over here. [John spots him] Hi! It's me, Chucky! What do you think? The grigri work? [John nods awkwardly] You know, when you were telling me all that stuff about how to beat death I thought maybe you were pulling my chain. But not now, uh-uh. Only one problem. John: What? Chucky: This. [points to a wound below his shoulder] I didn't think anybody could hurt me. But last night I got shot. And you know something? It hurt. It hurt like a son of a bitch, it even bled! Now why's that, John? John: You're turning human. Chucky: What? John: The more time you spend in that body, the more human you become. Chucky: You mean, I have to live out the rest of my life in this body? NO FUCKIN' WAY! You got me into this, you get me out! John: I can't do that, Chucky. Chucky: Why not? John: Because you're an abomination. AN OUTRAGE AGAINST NATURE! You've perverted everything I've taught you, and used it for evil! AND YOU HAVE TO BE STOPPED![John runs out of the kitchen and goes into his living room. As he began to call the police, Chucky stands in the kitchen's doorway]Chucky: You know, I thought something like this might happen. That's why I prepared for it. John: What are you talking about? Chucky: [produces a voodoo doll of John] Your own personal mojo doc. John: Give me that. Chucky: Sure, how'd ya want it? Broken leg? [Chucky bends the doll's right leg backwards, and John's right leg breaks, making John scream and fall over] Shouldn't tell your customers where you hide things like this, John. Gets you in trouble every time. Now how do I get out of this body? John: No. I won't tell you. Chucky: Yeah? [Chucky bends the doll's left arm backwards and John's left arm breaks, making John scream] Tell me or die, John. [Chucky pulls out a knife and prepares to stab the doll] Your choice. John: No, no! Alright, I'll tell you! You have to transfer your soul out of the doll, into the first human being you revealed your true self to. Chucky: You mean the first person I let in on the fact that I was really alive? [John nods and Chucky laughs] I don't believe it! I just don't believe it! The first person that I let in on the fact that I was still alive was a six-year-old kid. I'm gonna be six years old again. Well, John, it's been fun, but I gotta go. I have a date with six-year-old boy... and you have a date with death. [Chucky stabs the doll's chest with his knife and John groans in pain] So long, John![Chucky leaves and John bleeds to death from his stab wound][Chucky is sitting in an elevator, as an older couple enter it]Lucy: Look, George! Some child left their doll on the elevator. George: Now, leave it alone. Whoever left it there, will come back looking for it. Lucy: Ugly doll.[they exit the elevator]Chucky: Fuck you. Chucky: [About to be set on fire by Andy] Andy, no, please! We're friends until the end, remember? Andy: This is the end, friend. [Drops a match, igniting Chucky.]'' Taglines No one believes the truth...or lives to tell it. You'll wish it was only make-believe. Andy Barclay has a new playmate who's in no mood to play. There's nothing nice about murder, and there's nothing innocent about child's play. This doll is killer. Chucky is one mean S.O.B. Something's moved in with the Barclay family, and so has terror. When most people have nightmares, they dream of Freddy. When Freddy has nightmares, he dreams of Chucky.
