The Strangers: Chapter 1

The Strangers: Chapter 1 is a 2024 American film about a couple that stays in a Venus, Oregon wilderness cabin of that gets infiltrated by the three homicidal possibly cult members executing an initiation rite. It is a sequel to 2018 film The Strangers: Prey at Night. Directed by Renny Harlin, screenplay adapted by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, based on story written by Bryan Bertino. They don't need a reason.(taglines) Ryan We are actually in the middle of nowhere. Now I know what this looks like. We might just die of starvation. Carol [To Ryan and Maya] Five years, and you ain't put a ring on her finger? What the hell are you waiting for? Dialogue Maya: [Driving with Ryan in Oregon] SO I'm thinking rustic, very, with Tudor-style steeples and a stone chimney right in the middle. Ryan: Yeah, totally. Like a witch's house. Where are you going to put your broomstick collection? Maya: How about the cage you're going to be sleeping in, 'cause you won't be sleeping with me? [Displays vulgar gesture] Maya: Hey, do you know what day it is today? Ryan: Today is the third day [Maya rolls eyes] of our three-day road trip across the country. Maya: Or our five-year anniversary. Ryan: Anniversary? I just picked you up in Chicago. Maya: Best 16 hours of your life. Ryan: [Chuckles] I love you. [They kiss and then an oncoming driver blares horn due to Ryan veering off lane] Shit! Shit! [Oncoming vehicle stops] Oncoming driver: [Driving past] Fuck off! Maya: [Driving into Venus, Oregon] What a cool little town. Ryan: Yeah, I'm starving. I could eat a whole fucking cow. Ryan: What? Maya: Just Debbie and Howard. [Turns phone around to Ryan] So cute. Ryan: Are you having FOMO about missing Howard's kiss-my-ass birthday extravaganza? Maya: Well, it is a kiss-my-ass birthday extravaganza in Greece, so yes. Ryan: Why be in Greece when you can be in Venus? [Maya chuckles] Ryan: [To Shelly taking their order] And do you have any vegetarian recommendations? Shelly: Annie? We got a vegetarian here. Annie: I like the Carol's salad. Hold the bacon. Ryan: So we'd have to spend the night? Ryan: Is there anywhere near to stay close by? Rudy: Well, the motel's closed for repairs but there's one of them internet houses Shelly: He means an Airbnb. There's an older guy, Joe Gressis, he rents it out sometimes. Rudy: Except during hunting season. Shelly: Yeah, Joe likes to hunt. He's there from August to December and he keeps it pretty nice. Maya: Okay. Ryan: No, no. This is a scam. I saw you watching us. Maya: Will you excuse us for one second, please? [Turns around with him] Ryan, what's wrong with you? These people aren't scamming us. Ryan: You just think this is a coincidence? The mechanic watched us going into that diner and then suddenly he's fixing our car that wasn't even broken. Maya: We literally almost got into, like, a car wreck like, an hour ago. Something might have gotten messed up, okay? Please stop being paranoid. Ryan: Please stop being naive. Maya: You know what Rudy? That sounds great. We appreciate it. Thanks. [Maya is lying in a ditch] Emergency dispatch: 911. What's your emergency? Maya: Hi, hi. We've been attacked. There are people trying to kill us. Please, please send the police immediately. Please! Emergency dispatch: Ma'am? Ma'am, I'm having trouble hearing you. Can you speak up? Maya: We've been attacked. The Airbnb in Venus. Please send help. Emergency dispatch: Where are you located? Do you have an address? Maya: Please. The Airbnb in Venus. Please. [Hears static and starts to get up waving around phone for reception] Shit. Emergency dispatch: Ma'am. Ma'am please stay with me. Maya: [Repeatedly] Please... [Discovers a decomposed corpse] Emergency dispatch: Ma'am, are you okay? Maya: [To Ryan waking up tied up in chair alongside also tied up Maya] Ryan, can you hear me? Ryan? Ryan: It's going to be okay. Maya: They got us. I'm so sorry. Ryan: No, no. No, it's not your fault. None of this is your fault. Okay? None. Marry me. Maya: What? Ryan: Will you marry me? Maya: Yes. Yes, of course. I love you. Ryan: I love you too. [They touch foreheads] Maya: What do you want? ANSWER ME! Why are you doing this to us? Pin-Up Girl: Because you were here. Maya: (whispering) Fuck you! (scarecrow stabs her) AAAAHHHH!!!!!!!
