Abdallah Benanteur

Abdallah Benanteur (1931–2017) was an Algerian painter, printmaker, and artist book maker Quotes Each book was an adventure, a flight. The artist has this vocation of truth, as do all other creators. The painter is elected to incarnate human emotions. The artist does not rely on any line of conduct to perfect the work, but liberates himself from all scruples in order to affirm the authority of his world. For the painter, it is an imperious duty to turn toward life, to reestablish everywhere the perceptible current of beauty. The painter is a man who lives intensely, who suffers intensely, who loves intensely. The artist must remain free, free in his choice, free in his expression.
