Lawal Pedro SAN (born 6 October 1961) is a Nigerian lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). He has served as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Lagos State since 2023. However, one major challenge I had as the Solicitor General was in dealing with government agencies, to make sure they complied with the laws, rules and regulations. Government agencies also need guidance from their lawyers because most of the time, the agencies do not know the legal implications of what they do or fail to do and they do not seek legal advice sometimes. Also, government agencies need to obey legal advice from their lawyers because it is a big challenge. We also started a witness protection programme, through which we interacted with our witnesses to ensure their safety and also provide compensation in criminal cases, to ensure that victims were not overburdened.
