James Clive Adams (1968) is a former Jamaican cricketer, who represented the West Indies as player and captain during his career. Quotes I don't know what effect it will have on West Indian cricket, We are extremely proud of the boys. The manner in which they played their cricket has been good to watch. It was positive. It reflects on the fact that we have the raw material and that should motive us to do whatever we can to develop talent beyond the U-19 cricket. All the players had their moments, we saw some good bowling, aggressive batting and good fielding. There is good all round ability. If we can nurture one or two of that talent and make them international players, then it would be a job well done. It will be interesting to do a study to find out how much experience batsmen today have of playing on the 4th and 5th day. It is a dying art. There are inherent challenges in doing that. It is one of the reasons why I like to see Test cricket continue as it asks more questions of players. If his priority is Test cricket then I support him. It is a bit against the grain as people generally tend to choose the shorter format. It is a never ending saga. Hopefully that will improve as time goes. We have the raw material but we also have a good schools programme. But most importantly, we have excellent coaches who help nurture talent from a young age. What we need is a coach education programme so we can get the coaching standards lifted as well. We have not paid much attention to it.
