Tundun Abiola

Tundun Abiola is a Nigerian lawyer and TV presenter at Arise News. Quotes Obasanjo was appointed the president, he was not elected president. We did not have any election in 1999, we had a coronation. Tundun Abiola is expressing her view that Nigeria's 1999 transition to civilian rule did not represent a normal electoral process. She is arguing that the political arrangement that brought Olusegun Obasanjo into office was not equivalent to a freely contested election. He didn’t style himself as a friend to his guests, he could be rather adversarial. Tundun Abiola is discussing journalist David Frost and the qualities she admires in professional interviewing. She is describing the importance of challenging interview subjects with serious questions rather than simply maintaining a friendly relationship with them. I have come to expect certain things even from that individual. Just because it is not surprising doesn’t mean that it is not staggeringly inappropriate.
