Quotes
I looked in the sky where an elephant's eye Was looking at me from a bubblegum tree And all that I knew was the hole in my shoe Which was letting in water (letting in water).
"Hole in My Shoe", on Mr. Fantasy (1967)
I climbed on the back of a giant albatross, Which flew through a crack in the cloud, To a place where happiness reigned all year round, Where music played ever so loudly.
"Hole in My Shoe", on Mr. Fantasy (1967)
Seems I've got to have a change of scene 'Cause every night I have the strangest dreams. Imprisoned by the way it could have been, Left here on my own or so it seems. I've got to leave before I start to scream, But someone's locked the door and took the key. You feelin' alright? I'm not feelin' too good myself. Well, you feelin' alright? I'm not feelin' too good myself.
"Feelin' Alright", Traffic (1968)
I'm kind of the Forrest Gump of rock.
As quoted in "Dave Mason, the 'Forrest Gump of rock,' shares tales of Traffic, Beatles in memoir" by Melissa Ruggieri, USA TODAY (10 September 2024)
Misattributed
So let's leave it alone 'Cause we can't see eye to eye There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy There's only you and me and we just disagree.
"We Just Disagree", though a major hit for Mason, was written by Jim Krueger, a member of his band, for Mason's album Let It Flow (1977).
