Quotes
We haven't spoken about that, but I'm a utility player and I'm here to fight for my place.
It's not going to be easy, for sure, as we all know Sundowns has quality and depth in all positions, so no one can relax in this team
Anele Ngcongca: I'm Here To Fight For My Place, September 25,2016, Soccer Laduma by SL Writer
It’s not easy because first off all you must focus on your game then try to help others at the back and communication is vital,
My experience is helping me a lot and we have a good understanding at the back with the guys and they listen and it makes my job easier, and we encourage one another.
My Experience Helps – Ngcongca, June 25, 2020, SDFC Magazine
Every player wants to be on the field,
I got injured at the wrong time, joining a new club.
It was painful watching the guys from the stands.
I bring experience from Europe.
When I came home, I told myself that I am coming here to be consistent, help Sundowns and share my experience of playing in Europe for 10 years.
I want to get back to the level I was in 2010.
it was a decision that came from the heart.
If you look at countries like Ivory Coast, a number of their players are groomed in the youth set-up of (Koninklijke Sportkring) Beverin in Belgium
. The likes of Yaya Toure and Gervinho started there, were mentored and went to bigger things. That’s what we need here in South Africa.
We mustn’t go abroad for the sake of going there.
We must go there to raise our flag, stay there longer than one or two years.
If you can play there for 10 years or more, a good example is Benni McCarthy who stayed in Europe a long time and then came back to share his experience with players who want to go abroad
Ngcongca ready to make up for lost time, August 2018, IOL, by Njabulo Ngidi
Sometimes it is the mentality and the attitude. If you go overseas, you are going to struggle initially.
You need to be strong and mingle with the local guys from Europe.
But some of us don't mingle; we like to stick around with Africans and in Europe they see those small things and it’s a problem for them because you are not gelling with the team
One day I got a knock, I felt the pain and I stopped training.
The coach said 'I thought you Africans were stronger than that'.
For me that was an insult. So I left training and after that it was finished for me. In Europe, you can't do that but I did it.
I want to achieve what Sundowns want, which is to win titles. I am not an individual player.
I am a team player. I am willing to work for the jersey. I know it’s going to be tough.
The competition will be tight and I am willing to give it my all,
It's strange. I trained last week and I saw that the pace was higher than in Europe.
I had to adjust. I have played with some of the players in the national team so it won't take long for me to settle.
I have to take one step at a time
I got a video of the philosophy of Sundowns, how they work and how they do things - attack and defend.
I am still watching videos. Of course, I have worked with (coach) Pitso Mosimane.
I know his philosophy. So it won't take long to adjust
