Priscilla Schwartz

Priscilla Schwartz is a Sierra Leonean lawyer, the first woman to serve as Attorney General and Minister of Justice (2018–2020) in Sierra Leone. Quotes Justice and institutions are connected. We are beginning to see how much we need to move away from our conception of justice as just legal systems and courtrooms and also look at mismanagement of public institutions. Lack of justice is stopping countries from reaching their economic and social potential. Injustice feeds further injustice. It creates conditions for populist and extremist movements to prosper. Formal legal institutions are important, but they are too slow and too expensive to slake the thirst for justice felt by countries such as my own that have young and growing populations.
