Leo Robin (April 6, 1900 – December 29, 1984) was an American composer, lyricist and songwriter. He is probably best known for collaborating with Ralph Rainger on the 1938 Oscar-winning song "Thanks for the Memory", sung by Bob Hope and Shirley Ross in the film The Big Broadcast of 1938, and with Jule Styne on "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend".
Quotes
A kiss on the hand may be quite Continental, But diamonds are a girl's best friend.
Men grow cold as girls grow old And we all lose our dreams in the end, But square-cut or pear-shaped, These rocks don't lose their shape: Diamonds are a girl's best friend.
"Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend", Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1949); as quoted in Lawrence Langner, The Importance of Wearing Clothes (1959), p. 315. Variants: 'charms' for 'dreams'
