Quotes
[My manager] was like, ‘I got bad news and good news.’ He started off with [the good] news first. I like hearing the good news first. Even if you hear the bad news, you come out on top with the good. He was just like, ‘You got picked [to be an XXL Freshman], and we gon’ go celebrate.
I was excited because it was a lot of people got interviewed. I know it was plenty females that could have gotten picked. So, [for there to] only be two females on here, I’m definitely excited to be here because obviously it’s very particular.
I have my own sound. I think my voice and flow adds an extra level. People don’t hear [it] on a normal [basis], or it’s like, ‘OK, where do you get that from? What made you say that?’ When my album does come out, it’s going to be like, ‘She can do it all.’ I’m pretty sure everybody expecting straight hip-hop, hard lyrics or me coming aggressive how I normally do. But I got some slow stuff, I got some soft stuff, I got some gangsta stuff. The beats are all different. It’s not a particular sound. [I] can get on any beat. I think [my] realness and just being me speaks for itself. It just rolls off the tongue. I am a Freshman, and it’s great. This is my year. I’m finna drop my album. So, it all makes sense. This is where I marked that. So why not start here?
I was a good student, but I probably talked back a little bit. I think my teachers loved me.
BunnaB, for sure. I love her style, and I think this is the perfect type of thing for her. That would have been a good pick.
