Alliance Isimbi, popularly known as Alliah Cool, is a Rwandan actress, filmmaker, entrepreneur and humanitarian, and one of the pioneers of Rwanda's film industry. She is best known for Alliah the Movie, a feature film inspired by her own life, and for her work encouraging young girls to pursue careers in cinema. Isimbi left her rural birthplace for Kigali in 2010 and joined the film industry that year with her first film, Rwasa, for which she won Best Actress in a Rwandan Movie at the Rwanda Movie Awards. She went on to star in films including Serwakira, Rwasibo, Gica, Nkuba and the Tanzanian film Jibu. In 2015 she began working in journalism and television at Flash TV, and in 2020 she moved into production with her own company. Alliah the Movie, a 100-minute film directed by Ramadhan Benimana, was released in 2021, and made her the only Rwandan filmmaker with a movie streaming on Nigeria's Nollyflix platform. She has also starred in Good Book, Bad Cover. She is a partner and director of Ishusho Arts Center, a film school for young people who want to work in the creative industries, and speaks English, Kinyarwanda, Swahili and French. In 2023 Isimbi won the Great Achievers Award in Nigeria, recognising human and community development and dedication in the entertainment industry, and was welcomed into the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), a Nigerian non-governmental organisation linked to the United Nations Global Compact, being recognised among young United Nations peace ambassadors working to empower women. She has said that the Rwandan film industry can thrive if all its players work together, that parents often discourage their children's dreams because they lack information about the careers those children want, and that celebrities should give back to their communities.
