Quotes
Adventist predecessors at one time calculated that Christ's Second Coming would occur on October 22, 1844. It was on that date, Adventists now believe, that the final stage of man's human history began. The hour of Christ's expected return is unknown, but through dedication to His work, Adventists believe they can hasten it. The Bible states that the Advent cannot take place until the Gospel has been preached to all nations. As a result, the Adventists push missionary work with a sense of great urgency. . . . So zealous are these missionary efforts that occasionally a letter reaches international headquarters in Washington, D.C., addressed to "The Seventh-day Adventurers."
