Dialogue
[The British are attacking Washington]
Guest: This gives you an idea of the state this country's in, Mr. Crawford. You haven't had a taste of the war in New Orleans yet.
Crawford: Well, no. They're hardly Americans down there. Mostly French and Spanish — Creoles, they call themselves.
[The British dine in the White House]
Cockburn: [carving the beef] You like it underdone, Ross?
Ross: Yes, please.
Cockburn: It's the last meal will be served here.
Ross: A pity about this, Admiral.
Cockburn: Retaliation, Ross. The Yankees burned York. Would you like a bit of the crisp?
