Quotes
Cease, rude Boreas, blustering railer! List, ye landsmen, all to me; Messmates, hear a brother sailor Sing the dangers of the sea.
Song ("The Storm") st. 1. Attributed to "Mr. Stevens" in The Muses Delight (Liverpool, 1754) p. 291. Attributed to William Falconer by Stanier Clarke. See also The Songs of England and Scotland, 2 vols. (1835) vol. 1, p. 231, and Naval Chronicle, vol. 2, p. 233, where the song is decidedly attributed to Falconer, and said "to have been long given with singular injustice to G. Al. Steevens."
One wide water all around us: All above us one black sky; Different deaths at once surround us: Hark! what means that dreadful cry?
Song ("The Storm") st. 5
Fill it up, about ship wheel it, Close to our lips a brimmer join: Where's the tempest now, who feels it? None — the danger's drown'd in wine.
Song ("The Storm") st. 9
