Toy Story of Terror! (October 16, 2013) is a Halloween-themed 21-minute television special that aired on ABC. Set after the events of Toy Story 3, the special follows the toys on their road trip, when a flat tire leads Bonnie and her mother to spend the night in a roadside motel. After Mr. Potato Head goes missing, the others begin to search for him, but they find themselves caught up in a mysterious, monstrous, and terrifying sequence of events that lead them to a big conspiracy. Written and directed by Angus MacLane. Woody Oh, don't listen to her, Betsy. You can do it. Don't give up. We have to get her out! Oh, Potato Head, don't leave the bag. A motel is one of the easiest places for a toy to get lost! Buzz Tactics, Betsy, tactics. Look for something to defend yourself with. It's okay, Jessie. You're safe now. Jessie A cat? Come on, guys. This isn't scary. Are you Combat Carl? But I don't have any training! Jessie never gives up. Jessie finds a way. Dialogue [After the title, a black and white showing of clouds are shown and the camera pans down to a graveyard. A woman, Betsy, enters frantic; she runs until she trips over a tombstone and lands on a tombstone. She sees a bat flying towards her, it transforms into a dracula and chases after her]Dracula: [moaning] Betsy... Betsy: No! Rex: Watch out! [pops up] He's right behind you! Mr. Potato Head: Hey, down in front![In color. It's revealed to be a movie watched by Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Mr. Potato Head, Rex, Mr. Pricklepants, and Trixie in the trunk of Mrs. Anderson's car]Rex: Oh, sorry. Dracula: [in the movie] I'm coming to get you, Betsy. Rex: Run, Betsy! Run! Trixie: Oh, come on. There's no way she can outrun a vampire. Woody: Oh, don't listen to her, Betsy. You can do it. Don't give up.[It turns out that Bonnie and her mom are on a car trip. In the car, Bonnie rubs his eye and yawns]Bonnie: [sleepy] Are we there yet? Mrs. Anderson: [as she drives] Not for a few more hours, Bonnie. You can go back to sleep.[The toys continue to watch the movie in the trunk; Betsy is trying to get to the door of a church with the vampire closing in on her]Betsy: [in the movie] Help! Open the door! Dracula: [in the movie] No one can help you now, Betsy. Potato Head: Boring! Mr. Pricklepants: Patience. All great horror films start slowly. You see, they're designed to...[Annoyed, Potato Head pulls his ears out, which muted Mr. Pricklepants' talking]Betsy: [in the movie] Please, let me in! [manages to get in and close the door to save herself from the vampire. The vampire's laugh is heard. A crash sound is heard which frightens Betsy. She sees a broken vase and sees something behind a curtain]Buzz: Tactics, Betsy, tactics. Look for something to defend yourself with. [Betsy grabs a vase and empties the flowers and water] There we go. Mr. Pricklepants: [sighs] Technically, that would be useless. Everybody knows a wooden stake through the heart is the only way to kill a vampire.[Betsy slowly moves to the curtains and move it revealing a black cat. The toys shout in terror. Betsy yells. The cat screeches and pounces past her]Mr. Pricklepants: [chuckles] Only a kitty cat. Classic misdirection. Jessie: A cat? Come on, guys. This isn't scary.[The car hits a bump, which startles the toys. The car gets a flat tire and Jessie is knocked in a tool box, trapping her inside. Jessie tries to get out, but can't]Jessie: Help! [muffled] Get me out of here! Buzz: Jessie! Woody: We have to get her out! Buzz: [tries to open the tool box] Jessie! Jessie, can you hear me? [the car hits another bump and stops at a roadside motel. Buzz grabs a lug wrench and puts it under the tool box] Okay, everyone, on 3. 1, 2, 3! [the toys jump on the lug wrench, tipping the tool box, opening it up, freeing Jessie; Jessie breathes heavily. Woody, Buzz, Rex, and Pricklepants look at her in concern] Jessie, Jessie? Trixie: [to Potato Head] What's the matter with Jessie? Mr. Potato Head: She was abandoned in a box for years. Jessie: [panting] I-I couldn't... I couldn't find a way out. Bonnie: Mom, can I bring my toys?[The toys hides inside the case just in time as Bonnie's mom grab her case filled with her daughter's toys, the car stops at a motel, Bonnie and her mom get out of the car and enter the motel. Bonnie carries her suitcase with her toys in it. Mr. Pricklepants looks outside the bag]Mr. Pricklepants: The roadside motel is one of the most common locals for a horror film. Remote, isolated, a comforting environment to allure the suspicions of the audience. I'll expect they'll be asking the innkeeper to use the telephone any minute now. Mrs. Anderson: Will it be okay if I used your phone? Our car has a flat. Mr. Pricklepants: [chuckles] Right on cue. Buzz: It's okay, Jessie. You're safe now. Woody: We'll be back on the road before you know it. What's the latest, Trixie? Trixie: Uh, she's still on the phone with the tow truck company. Mrs. Anderson: 6 am? That's the earliest you can get here? Rex: 6 am? You mean we have to stay here all night? Mr. Pricklepants: Bum, bum, bum. Jessie: I don't care where we are as long as I'm not stuck alone in that box.[bell dings]Ron: If you could just sign here in the guestbook. [laughs] I'll need to see a major credit card for the incidentals. Okay, let's see here. I'm going to put you in room seven.[Outside the Sleep Well motel, Bonnie and Mrs. Anderson go to the 7 room]Ron: [voice over] You know, we have a little saying around here. At the Sleep Well Motel, you're gonna sleep... well.[At the Sleep Well Motel, Bonnie and her mom are sleeping in their room. Trixie opens the bag and looks around]Trixie: Well, it looks like they're asleep. Mr. Potato Head: [sighs] Finally. [starts to leave]Jessie: Potato Head, where... Where are you going? Mr. Potato Head: We're at a motel. We're at a motel. I just wanna check out the amenities. You know, the free stuff? Little soaps, shower caps? Shampoo? Conditioner? Mr. Pricklepants: Oh, I wouldn't go out there if I were you. The first to leave usually gets it. Woody: Oh, Potato Head, don't leave the bag. A motel is one of the easiest places for a toy to get lost! Mr. Potato Head: Aw, shut your worry hole! Nobody's gonna getting lost. Besides, I promised Hamm I'd bring him back something nice. [leaves the bag; Jessie sees Rex, Trixie, and Mr. Pricklepants leave too]Jessie: Wait! Wh-where are you guys going? Trixie: We were just gonna check out the free stuff. Mr. Pricklepants: [dramatically] And if something does happen to the potato, [anxiously] I wouldn't want to miss it! [leaves]Woody: Oh, come on, guys, let's all just stay in the bag! [sighs, because of the toys' disobedience; turns to Buzz] Buzz, I'll grab those guys, you get Potato Head. Buzz: Got it. [he and and leave]Jessie: No, wait. Don't go! Buzz: Don't worry, Jessie. I'll be right back. [leaves the bag]Jessie: Buzz! [looks around the bag, breathing shallow; She starts imagining the bag beginning to close in on her. Jessie gets scared and leaves the bag too, and out into the dark room; whispers] Guys! Guys! Where are you? Combat Carl: Nice to see you made it here in one piece, cowgirl. Jessie: Carl![C.C. Jr. appears, clearing his throat]Combat Carl: Oh, Combat Carl would like to introduce you to his 1/3 scale counterpart… Combat Carl Jr. Pocketeer: That was the last one. That means, I'm next! Don't you see?! I'm the last of the Fastener Four! Look! Zipper Man. Snaps. Speed Lacer. I'm next! I'M NEXT! C.C. Jr.: [slaps him in the face] Keep it together, man! We'll find a way out! Jessie: What do I do?! Now we're all gonna end up in a box! Combat Carl: [having to have heard that; gets an idea] Wait, that's it! [turns to Jessie] Jessie, say that again! Jessie: Say what? That we're all gonna end up in boxes? Combat Carl: Not us. You. You're gonna get in the box. Jessie: [shocked] What?!Combat Carl: Listen, in a few minutes, the delivery lady is gonna come back through that door and take the other boxes, and you're gonna be in one them. It's the only way to free Woody. Jessie: [too afraid of her claustrophobia] No. No way. I can't. I can't do that! I can't get in a box! I can't! There's gotta be another way! Combat Carl: This is the way! You better snap out of it, soldier! We're running out of time, and you're the only chance we've got! Jessie: No! [stammering] I can't! Combat Carl: Jessie, listen to me! Remember your training. Jessie: But I don't have any training! Combat Carl: Well, forget about that. When Combat Carl gets stuck in a jam, he says to himself, "Combat Carl never gives up. Combat Carl finds a way." Now say it! Jessie: [nervously] Combat Carl never gives up? Combat Carl: You're not Combat Carl! Jessie: Oh, Jessie never gives up! Jessie finds a way! Combat Carl: I can't hear you! Jessie: [toughing herself up] Jessie never gives up! Jessie finds a way! [shouting] YEAH!Combat Carl: Oh, one more thing. [gestures to Mr. Jones sleeping] Keep it down. Jessie: [quietly] I'll try. [silently sneaks past Mr. Jones, climbs up on the top check-in desk, and peels the tape off one of the boxes] Wake up! You're free! Transitron: [rising up] Who dares summon Transitron? Jessie: I need to use this box. Transitron: Transitron free? Bonnie: [seeing her toys in the case after the curtain falls off; gasps] My toys! [runs to the back and takes Woody off the shelf]Ron: No, no. Little girl, that area is for employees only! Bonnie: Hey! Ron: [stammering nervously] I can't have you back here. Mrs. Anderson: [suspiciously] Are those my daughter's toys?[They look down at Mr. Jones ringing the bell with Jessie in the crate]Bonnie: Jessie! Ron: [as Mrs. Anderson glares sharply at him; laughs nervously] Those, uh, they might be hers. Mr. Pricklepants: Ah, the epilogue. We're back to the location where it all began. Woody: I never thought I'd miss the trunk. Buzz: You did it, Jessie. You saved us all. Jessie: Jessie didn't give up. Jessie found a way. Woody: [laughs] Well, Woody wants to say thanks.[During the end credits…]PEZ Cat: [seeing a delivery truck pull up] Transport has arrived! Combat Carl: You heard the cat! Let's move! [C.C. Jr. gives him back his right hand]'' Thanks, buddy. Next stop, Billy's house. Cast Joan Cusack — Jessie Tom Hanks — Woody Tim Allen — Buzz Lightyear Carl Weathers — Combat Carl and C.C.
