[...] economic research does not confirm that the public deficit is the sole determinant of interest rate differentials, nor that it is always the most important. Empirical analyses reveal that interest rate spreads are related to numerous variables: in particular also to deficits and debts to foreign countries, both private and public.

The fact that pro-euro extremism is widespread especially among the heirs of the twentieth-century workers' movement automatically implies that a "Gattopardesque" exit from the single currency is the most likely eventuality today. This is a nasty short circuit, and it's hard to say whether there's still time and way to try to break it.

The analyses we have indicate that if the Greek government had decided to leave the euro and implement a minimum expansionary policy, for a few years the country would have needed a foreign financier to help it cover the excess imports on exports. Did that financier exist? Tsipras said no one had come forward, while others had said otherwise. This point raises significant economic and geopolitical questions: until it is clarified, it will be difficult to give a definitive assessment of the Greek Prime Minister's moves.

Anti-fascist militancy means first and foremost an understanding of the material causes of fascism. In this regard, the thesis I have long been trying to support is that liberals are not simply guilty of downplaying the fascist phenomenon. Liberals, with their "laissez faire" economic policies, are the main cause of the fascist revival of our time. [...] one should Hegelianly understand that the brute sovereignist and fascist reaction of these times is the unwanted daughter of globalist liberalism and its failures.

[...] if the economic policy scenario does not change, it is reasonable to predict that the gaps between the macroeconomic indices of the central countries and those of the peripheral countries of the Union will persist, with easily understandable effects on their respective bank balance sheets. The consequence is that Italy and other peripheral countries could arrive at the restructuring meeting in the awkward role of debtors forced to liquidate banks on the terms set by potential foreign buyers.
