Ruth Rigoga (also written Rigoga Ruth) is a Rwandan sports journalist, presenter and producer. She is a senior sports producer and presenter at the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA), where she presents RTV Sports and RTV Kick-off on Rwanda Television and the programme Urubuga Rwimikino. She is regarded as one of the most recognised female sports journalists in Rwanda, and The New Times has described her as a trailblazer who excelled in a field that is largely a preserve for men and who does not back down, even from naysayers.
Rigoga has said her whole life has been about sports. As a child she tried many games, especially football, which she played at national level, and she studied at high school on a football scholarship. After school she played for the women's team of AS Kigali, and football led her indirectly into journalism. She began her media career in July 2010 at Isango Star, where she presented a talk show called Women in Sports with other female sports journalists, while studying for a degree in journalism at the University of Rwanda. In 2012 she was hired by the newly launched 98.7 KFM, owned by Nation Media Group, which closed in June 2016, and she then joined Radio & TV 10, where she worked alongside other prominent sports journalists and became known on the programme 10 Sports, one of the most popular sports shows in Rwanda. In June 2019, she joined RBA.
Rigoga is known for her storytelling and detailed analysis, and has reported for Rwanda Television from major tournaments abroad, including the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Cameroon in January 2021. She has described the difficulties of her career, including stereotypes, negative comments and the challenge of balancing motherhood and work, and has said that people often tried to discourage her, but that she keeps moving. She is married and has a child. The sports platform Sewoe includes her among the most influential sports journalists in Africa, and her own profile lists her as sports presenter of the year in 2014, 2024 and 2025. In July 2025 she took part in a media round table with President Paul Kagame at Village Urugwiro.
